Could it happen? Should it happen? I hope so, because it will be an awesome qualitiy of life improvement for players (at least for morons like me who buy character slots...)
The reason for it is to get people to actually log into the game , they would have given players the ability to fully invoke from gateway instead of just extending the timer if they ever intended to allow us to invoke without fully logging in , it would be a good feature but it is one I doubt they will ever entertain adding .
I think there's also a real technical issue... Invoking happens at the server, not the client. You need to log into the server, into that character space so the server knows what to do. Until you elect a character and login, the server does't have a clue about who you are or what you're doing.
Not to mention you'd always have to logout while at a campfire.
So, how can the Invoking action happen from the character select screen if you aren't logged-in and communicating with the server? If there were such an option, it would have to log your character into the game, invoke, then log you out again. But you can do this already all by your little lonesome self, without any new server/client code needing to be written by developers.
Don't get me wrong: It's a nifty idea, but I just don't think it can happen, for technical reasons.
Yeah, i just find really dumb having to enter and logout 8 times, just to push a button. It could be coded as an instance without graphics or anything, you press the invocation and it enters the chara in a small instance inside the server, that you never see, invoke and logout without nobody noticing. It will be the same but a bit automated and less annoying

Well, here's the thing:
Invoking is entirely optional. If you find it annoying, you shouldn't do it.

Good point. But technically you can invoke in Gateway (Sword Coast Adventures) - the only difference is that you don't receive any new coins, but it extends the timer another thirty hours so you won;t lose what you already have.
Well. I do my invoking when I set up my crafting,.. on all those alts you mentioned. Since I que up crafting about 3 times a day that works out pretty good.
