I think perfect balance is impossible, but the closest we get to that, the better. Having more than 1 class in a dungeon is a bad sign, having a couple of classes that have trouble finding parties for end game dungeons is a very bad sign.
for pvp it's not so important because you can just pug queue and no one will kick you out, even if they feel your class isn 't very good. Also in pvp all classes can be useful, not so much in endgame PVE.
Err, either you made a typo or you are going to love Mod 3 PvE if no changes are made from what we have seen on the test realm....
I do agree though that perfect balance is something we should strive for, even if it is not attainable.
Sorry I meant, having more than 1 of each class is a bad sign. If most dungeon parties are made with 2 CW or 2 GWF, it's a bad sign. Not terrible but not good, what's a really bad sign is to have 2-3 classes that have a really hard time finding a group for PVE
This is a bit off-topic as you are discussing dungeons rather than classes or races.
No, I do understand the holy trifecta of RGP is; Warrior, Cleric, and Wizard. The original Guild Wars was about the only one of these MMOs to get it right. However, the problem of not being able to solo a dungeon still existed. Guild Wars originally offered prefab AI "henchmen" to join your party up to eight including yourself. Every mission was a dungeon basically and if your team build was off your team would wipe. Star Trek Online (STO) also by Cryptic offers bridge officers (BO) to assist you in much the same way as companions in this game do. However this game offers up that you need 5 living players to go in together. I always find it an enigma how almost all of these "social games" in concept become so anti-social in practice.
My statement (that was requoted) was mostly in response to what ordensmarschall said in the post above mine, "...now dungeons are simple hack 'n' slash events that require very little teamwork...". Maybe it was my fault but I really didn't see the need to repeat what they just said. Some Foundry authors make missions that do require teamwork.
If you are bored to tears with the hack n slash dungeons, find the job board and join a Foundry quest. It doesn't have to be my quest, there are several good missions and quite a few need to be reviewed. Sign up to be a reviewer and give your honest opinion. We need feedback, if you don't like something don't just give us a 1 star and say it is garbage; explain why you think it is garbage. Foundry authors are players just like you that want better quests!
Sorry to sound like a commercial interruption.
There are some excellent Foundry quests out there, no doubt. I have played a few of them. My comment was more on the point of balance. Balance isn't required when all you need to do is hack 'n' slash your through the dungeon. They are currently all about DPS and nothing else. Currently I am not bored to tears with the dungeons as I don't play them incessantly hoping for a particular drop.
I'd like to ask if there will be someimprovements for the Guardian Fighter because this i very hard to do high lvl instances (VAlindra, Malabog, Castle Never). A defensive Guardian fighter is no use for now: you are jsut an hindrance because you make to few dps. For now for big instances (assuming you have already a control wizard, priest in your party), you never get to be chosen as a teamember. Except for Hrimmir or maybe Spell plague. How would you change the balance so that Guardian fighter would be more chosen?
