Considering how badly the 5vs5 PvP Que is messed up currently, could the developers please work on the real reason for player verses player in any game? Make a one on one PvP matchmaking system and the problems with the 5vs5 que will go away. Capture the flag was great for Quake 2 but it's time to give this MMORPG a real PvP system. Ultima Online was more fun with 1vs1 PvP and we got to pick up the stuff people dropped when we killed them.
Could the developers answer this question: Why is there no 1vs1 PvP in this game already? I understand the desire to have capture the flag type PvP with 5 players vs 5 players because it's fun for a while. Encouraging groups to form in D&D is important but this game is more than just D&D, it's also a first person shooter. CTF was a lot of fun in Quake 2 but here we need to be able to match ourselves against other players.
I understand that there are AD/Zen/monetary/marketing reasons for not implementing 1 on 1 PvP but, for those that think they know better, you won't make any money if it's not a fun game. Fix the 5vs5 que and give us a way to match our skills directly against each other or you will loose us MMORPG and FPS players to other games.
BTW, great job so far with all the changes to make the game better. Your responsiveness to player requests and player feedback is one of the reasons we all keep playing here instead of somewhere else.

Agreed, quests are not for PvP. PvP is for gauging yourself against other players. When it's 5vs5, it should not be called PvP. It's team based capture the flag. It's like dungeon delving but without the dungeon and the only boss you get to fight is the other team. BTW most new 5vs5 players don't understand the concept of capture the flag. First, you capture the flag, then you kill everybody. I've played more PvP in Neverwinter than I care to admit and see often how the new players have no idea what to do.
When it's 1vs1, it's pretty obvious what you have to do. When it's 5vs5, it's a strategy capture the flag game not PvP. 20vs20 with GG is great but it's developing more of the same capture the flag based scenarios with more people. Factions and PvP questing seems to be headed in the same development direction, away from honest 1 on 1 player vers. player fights.
We, the players, want to be able to gamble with our AD. 1vs1 PvP will enable betting with AD on winners regardless of what the developers what to do with it. Development should facilitate, not inhibit, the game.
The issue about 1v1 is that the classes aren't balanced. There are certain classes that will kill other classes simply because of their class (e.g., TRs will kill GFs in a 1v1, etc.). Then there's the issue of gear. As a general rule, people with more gear will have more damage and more defensive stats, giving them a noticeable advantage. If you win a 1v1, it probably means you have the better matchup or better gear. Obviously, it might also mean that you have more skill/a better build, but to really determine that, you would need to be fighting the same class with the same gear. Then you have classes like DCs where 1v1s just aren't terribly exciting.
A good way to do 1v1s is simply to ask the other team in PvP and/or stay after the match.
+1
Options. This game needs more them. I don't see anything wrong with adding options targeted at a niche audience.
I disagree with you but I agree adding options is always great.
I disagree because clearly, Cryptic is understaffed and slow when it comes to churning out content. I would say no to them devoting time and resources to make a mode that would satisfy so very few in the long run

How much resources would it really take though?
A duplicate random queue for 1v1 PvP should be a pretty easy modification. Even having two players queue up together in a versus challenge mode and then having them allocated to 'opposite' teams of 1 shouldn't be too much additional work.
A lot of happier players for relatively little work seems to be win-win to me.

Cryptic could do numerous things to improve this game but they seem to take 10x longer time than it would expect for them to implement a simple change

Very true, but a duplicate queue just for 1v1 is as little work as anyone can possibly hope to have. You could even use the same game arena initially to save effort...

No, there is not.
There will be one in the next update, nut not currently.

personly not a fan of doing premade groups, so 1vs1 would be nicer ;p
