I think it'd be a good change if the runeslots were reversed, currently the Acolyte has two offensive slots and one defensive - basically the opposite of the normal Cleric companion.
However the Acolyte has zero attacks to use on an enemy, every ability she has targets an ally - so power, crit, etc (all the stuff you get from offensive runestones) are all completely worthless - with the possible exception of "Recovery" (but recovery's tooltip states specifically that it increases the recharge of "Encounter" powers, since companions aren't players I'm not sure if their abilities fit into that category and that the stat is of any use to them).
I think it would be a nice change towards making this companion more viable as you can provide them with a bit more survivability, nor does it seem like it'd be terribly complicated to do.

Umm. Power + Crit helps her 5% Heal at L30. Recovery does in fact help her Encounter cooldowns also. I've tested this. I had 999 Recovery and her spells were overlapping. Like it was permanently on me.
I agree 100%. The defense slots would provide much better utility out of her, regardless of the build. Even with crit + power she's not a viable healer, at least nowhere close to the amount of healing you can get with the free companion healer. At least for me it wasn't worth the investment/return to force her to be a healer.
I experimented a lot with her after I bought her to make her viable in some way(because I like the way she looks). The best use I could find for her was if you made a lifesteal build on your character, then all her skills start to shine a bit more. I tried a Lifesteal build Rogue for kicks,(since they hit so often) and was surprised how well I could self heal when I dumped a ton of lifesteal in her and my player. Without her though, a lifesteal build was still not viable.
That being said, having 2 more defense slots loaded with Eldritch stones would give a considerable player boost to lifesteal, and make it not only viable, but a very dangerous build to contend with.
