I'm pretty sure other people have thought of this idea. Currently, Drake and Unicorn seals aren't that useful since the current gear we can exchange them for can be easily replaced by cheaper epics. One good way to give an incentive for PVE players would be to release gear and artifacts as recent and updated as the ones we see for PVP, only it'll cater for PVE players.
One of the biggest problems we see for PVP are PVE players trying to farm for their Blood Crystal Raven Skull artifact. Some, if not majority of the dedicated PVE players dislike to PVP, which leads to problems like people quitting early because things aren't going well for their team, and campfire camping. They feel like they need to do PVP content in order to get something which can be useful for their PVE journeys and this can be problematic. Instead of forcing them to do PVP for their Raven Skull artifact, why not release a version of the Raven Skull that can be exchanged for Drake Seals? This way, PVE players will do what they do best, which is bulldozing dungeons with their friends. It could be reworked to provide alternative stats instead of Regen, Recovery and Stamina Regen, just so there would be a little variety between the PVP and PVE versions. But the artifact bonus would remain the same for fairness' sake. But why stop with just 1 Artifact? Since PVE is pretty much the biggest portion of the end-game content, it would make sense if we see more types of PVE Artifacts that cost maybe 500 Unicorn/Drake Seals. This way people will have a wide variety of choices they can choose from when they plan their character builds.
Another possible use for Drake and Unicorn Seals would be the ability to trade them in for current existing T1 and T2 epic gear. Unicorn Seals can be traded for T1 gear, and Drake Seals can be traded for T2 gear. It can be hard to get the gear you want because of the fickle RNG sometimes, and it's pretty frustrating when you've ran a certain dungeon a lot of times but you still would not get the gear you absolutely need. But at the end of those many runs, you manage to amass quite a few Unicorn/Drake Seals. Why not use these seals to reward these sort of unlucky players for their perseverance? Running dungeons as a new level 60 can be pretty hard and we all have to admit that it was pretty overwhelming running the epic dungeons when we were severely inexperienced and undergeared. But by being able to trade Unicorn and Drake Seals for BoP Epic T1/T2 gear, PVE players can at least rest assured that they will eventually be rewarded as long they keep trying. But I'm not saying that these gear should be cheap. I'm thinking of pricing somewhere along these lines...
This way, people will not have to rely on just Dungeon Delves and their Dungeon Delve Keys in order to try to win the favor of the fickle RNG gods. As long as they keep running, they will eventually be rewarded.
What do you guys think? I'm hoping a dev can read this one of these days since there are plans to revamp the itemization in the game once Mod 3 hits.
You can already get T2 gear with Drake seals. You just can't get a set piece.
And the jewelry you can get with Drake seals is the cheapest T2(-ish) jewelry you can get - it's basically free as a byproduct of running the dungeon and getting the seals.
This would also of course destroy the market for unbound set pieces that drop. People would no longer fork over 300k+ AD for that set piece they've been trying to acquire from the DD chest, they'd just instead run PK about 20 times to get the seals for it. As someone who relies on selling unbound set pieces acquired from T2/GG dungeons for an income, I'd not be too thrilled with this idea.
But I think having an artifact or something else available via seals would be a great idea. The price should be kinda high though, if it's gonna be an artifact. Maybe 5000 seals? Dunno. (Oh and if they're gonna do that, let us stack our seals in stacks of greater than 100!)
Oh and let's just be real honest about the "leaver" problem when it comes to PVP. It's not just PVE glory farmers who are quitting PVP matches. It's also experienced PVP players who quit PVP matches because they cannot stand to be on a team that has a bunch of non-hardcore PVP players like themselves.
I really do wish the new PVP module had included a "forfeit" option. That would have saved a lot of grief I think. But that is a discussion for another thread I suppose.
