You're 10% of the GF community thats found a Guild willing to weaken themselves for you. Congrats!
Try to look at it from the perspective of an average player and not the top 1%. Honestly, a lot of ordinary tier 1.5-2 geared people will gladly friend a good GF because they're not at the point where they know enough control wizards to make them obsolete. GFs are still the best kiters, and often they are knowledgeable on boss fights. There are quite a few parties where a GF will show up and the party will go "Thank God".
It's kind of like how two cars with high continuous acceleration will race and how one will start a split second sooner than the other, and all is well until you start to see them slowly drift apart because the acceleration is causing that split second to matter more and more. As the people you associate with improve more and more in quality, the less relevant GFs become.
I still don't think they are weak, but they are a rare class people don't like to play, so often parties learn to do without, and frankly they get used to it. If you can't find a GF to save your life and you happen to have a bunch of people and a cleric who want to do Frost or whatever, they'll say screw it and go for it and find out, with enough skill and stats, it's possible without a GF. And they get better and better at it as the GFs become rarer and rarer until finally one does show up and the party doesn't even know what to do with them anymore.
Since they're pretty good at PvP and Cryptic is scared to death of making another OP class, I think the best solution is to improve the tier 2 PvE gear. But that's just my opinion.
Edit: I'd also like to blame the over-reliance on glitches on a lack of GFs, but that's pure speculation on my part.

Unless they actually nerf GF's (We got a couple of buffs last patch imo; but we DO need better gear optimisation for PvE): I foresee the future continuing for those that enjoy playing the class (especially those that have wrapped their heads around playing it WELL).

This post has so much of it's barrel pointed back at your face it's hilarious.
My Guild is stronger because of it: Better movers, better shakers, and more adaptability = Strength.
AND because we have diversity: We can all play several classes and know that every situation/instance can have whatever comp we want to run...and still get the job done.
Any Guild that has become singularly focused is weaker because of it.
Especially due to the plain fact that when change does make a class MORE viable than it was: The Guild that is familiar with it will be better placed to move onto utilising the benefits.
Not the other way around.

It's easy to say this affects just the 1%, but that's simply not true. It's virtually every single SP/Karrundax/MC/CN/VT group in the LFG channel. For those of you at counting at home, that's just about every raid north of tier 1.
Just watch LFG during a delve. Most delves I never see a single GF trying to get a group. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know then I don't know what will.
The complaints about GF's have nothing to do with 1-59 groups or people running Cloak Tower. I don't understand why some of you keep trying to pull them into these discussions as justification that the class isn't that bad because those players are fine. Every single class is fine leveling up to 60.

Viable, but not optimal is how I see it.

Not the other way around. Proactive is the better path.
