Respec in the Foundry is bugged?

tiborrustiborrus Member Posts: 94 Arc User
I read: the respec in the live game is problematic(for many players don't work).

In the Foundry I tired to respec my character to lev.21. GWF, because I playing in the game with GWF. I can't spend my points. Aviable points are "frozen" at 12, I'm clicking on the power icons to no effect. The same situation at the Feats. I'm spending my points, clicking "Commit changes", and if I try to exit, appearing a message:" If I exit without commit, the changes will be lost".
It's a bug like in the live game?

Sorry my english, I hope my question is understandable. :)

I have encountered this issue before though GWF was one of the classes that actually worked for me. I have not heard of it happening in the live game though.
Neverwinter players are stubborn things....until you strip them down to bone. (Cursed players, my flowers, MINE!) Oh how I plotted their demise.

Three weeks? It's been almost a year - at least. First "report" I found was 5/8/2013.

I have the same problem with... Every character. Dunno, but I can only spend 12 (more or less, I did not count them) points, and, even worse, I only have 1 power (the red powers, I mean) available to use (always the Q)
Hope they fix this, but... It does not seem like they will, at least not soon XD

You have to delete the foundry character and make a new one. Then you can respec and hope it works that time. As eldarth said it's been around since they first introduced the respec foundry toon option. We used to not even get a mount whe we respecced to a mount appropriate level. It made content designed with mounts in mind annoying to test for feel and flow.
I wasted five million AD promoting the Foundry.

What do you mean delete the Foundry character? How do I do that? Or do you mean delete your who Neverwinter account and restart? 0.o

Bumping this, hoping for an answer to the last post? Having the same problem, going from a GWF to a CW. With the powers: started with 5 points, 7 'earned', could only apply one and then it didn't save any future applications, couldn't add any more than the encounter power I started with, couldn't apply any ability or feat points at all.

    Shall also report the bug.

    Thanks

no, no it hasnt. Spent all day making my first ever foundry mission and when I go to test it, I respecced my toon to the class I am used to, oathbound paladin.... have not been able to get a working character since. How the &^%$ are we supposed to test these things if we cant... you know... TEST THEM!? I feel like I have wasted my entire day when I could have been doing something productive. Plus to find out that it has been an issue for what looks like 3 years with no resolution tells me that Cryptic doesnt give a single HAMSTER in the world that their product doesnt work.

Apparently people are still making foundry missions though. How are people testing them??

You are correct that respec is broken once again, and has been broken for quite awhile--before mod 5 even. It was working briefly, but respec certainly isn't working correctly any more.

Many of us simply wait until we publish to do any real testing, since the respec bug makes it practically impossible to test class specific interaction with the environment and encounters. I use alts and friends to do my testing after publish. This method is required for other reasons, anyway, because encounter and pathing behavior is so different between the Foundry 3D Preview and a published version on the Live Server.

When I publish a beta test of a quest, I make the final chest unreachable so that the quest can't be completed, and add a warning in the description stating that it is impossible to complete and not ready for rating. This allows me to test the quest in its entirety, all the way up to the very end... I just make the final chest reachable again once I feel it is ready enough for public consumption.

If you pick the lowest possible level, and level up, the points become assignable as you level. Don't respec afterwards, because it erases all your progress and inventory/mounts. Yes, I was able to buy a 5 gold mount at one point, then respec'ed to a Ranger, and...gone.
