Greetings all!
I have been playing, leveling, mastering my GF. I got him to right at where I want him, with extremely high Regen...so he can pretty much take a beating and stand there and smile. But ya know...after a while, you get bored of doing so, and wanna take the opposite role...one that just dishes out damage/DPS in SPADES. So...I decided to roll a TR.

Kat A. Klyzm's the name, and beating the $%^& out of people is my game! (well...that's the plan at least). Half Orc, and just hit level 30.

I gotta say, I LOVE actually dealing damage, and lots of it! Complete opposite of my GF (which I love). I mean, my GF does so so damage, but I built him to withstand a beating and to keep on ticking. However, there's just something about dashing all over the battlefield...slashing people's throats and stabbing them in the back and then laughing while doing a nice little jig afterwards that makes me giddy.

So, I've decided with this toon, I want MAX damage. I wanna lead the Damage Dealt category in Dungeon Delves/Skirmishes. I wanna be that one guy that people want on their team because they know that I can kill whatever comes my way. Like how my GF pretty much knows that he'll always be the last man standing, and will be standing for quite some time. I'm sure the TR Community has NEVER been asked what to do/take to completely max out damage, right? RIGHT?

After looking at a few things, I'm gonna say that I need to focus on Crit,Armor Pen,Power, then Recovery. Oh, and I think I wanna try for as much Lifesteal as I can get to help with survivability (especially gonna get the Boon that gives a chance to steal 3 times as much). What is the "cap" for Crit,Armor Pen,Power, etc? What should my goal be for each? I'm working on my other toons to get as many AD as I can in order to finance this toon whenever I finally hit 60 with it (which I realize will be a while, and the cost of this one will be A LOT).

So, like I said, I just hit level 30, and thought "ya know, I haven't even looked at a single guide or anything...I might wanna do that".... So, here's where I currently stand.

LVL 30 Half Orc TR
STR 21 CON 11 DEX 21 INT 11 WIS 11 CHA 13

ACTION ADVANTAGE 3/5
WEAPON MASTERY 3/3
TOUGHNESS 3/3
CUNNING AMBUSHER 3/3
ENDLESS ASSAULT 3/3
DISCIPLE OF STRENGTH 3/3
IMPROVED CUNNING SNEAK 2/5

I took MASTER INFILTRATOR and started on the EXECUTIONER tree. I have 1/5 in DAZZLING BLADES.

This look about right? I don't much care for PvP, as I don't PvP much at all (maybe a total of 15-20 matches ever). I may be open to doing more PvP with this toon, but right now I wanna focus on PvE.

Anyone have any ideas/comments/thoughts/suggestions? All are welcome as I'm learning the "tricks" of this awesome trade!
Thanks in advance!:D

Hate to disappoint you, but Paingiver is almost always going to go to a CW or GWF since AOE damage counts. More targets hit mean they're doing the most damage. It's not so bad in skirmishes as there usually aren't so many mobs, but that's the way the system works.

    Pretty much this.

The only way you'll beat a semi-competent CW/GWF in damage dealt is by having massively better gear. Something like Mulhorand weapons (ie. auto-levelling purple Tier 1) while the CW/GWF uses greens. Once you hit 60, you'll be between DC/GF and CW/GWF on the Paingiver score chart.

Fun fact: My CW using her AoE setup has higher single target dps than either of my TRs due to better gear.

My tr is new but my guild used to run me on my gwf another gwf 2 cws and a dc. Since I changed to my tr they noticed how much faster the bosses go down since I am burning them. Yes the pain giver will never go to you until they change the way it works or how dungeons are designed.
At the end of it all play what you want you can clear any endgame with any make up. It's just easier with a certain group make.

you should stop the tr and go for cw.
cw makes 50% more dmg then same gear tr.

    1. Since you're solely PvE, get high-power gear
    2. Go Whisperknife.
    3. Get "Dagger Threat"
    4. Get "Advantageous Position"
    5. Instead of Executioner, go Scoundrel
    6. Acquire following skills/setting:

+ Vorpal enchantment(50% higher critsev. at Perfect Rank)
+ Endless Assault(6% higher encounter damage)
+ Cat's Paw Style (-10% defense debuff on Dazing Strike/Blitz)
+ Whirlwind Sneak Attack (15% higher encounter damage on first enc. used out of stealth)
+ Advantageous Position (Combat Advantage granted for 5 seconds or so after stealth)
+ Scoundrel Training (9% higher At-Will damage to those not targeting you)

...use following skills: Wicked Reminder, Dazing Strike, Blitz / Disheartening Strike, (DF or Sly Flourish, according to preference)

    ** Combat
    1. Stealth
    2. Disheartening Strike to 4~5 mobs present: on crits, each will deal at the least 10k~15k damage against 4~5 mobs
    3. Against tough-grade mob mixed in, use Wicked Reminder during stealth (= 3 stacks of debuff, -15% damage resistance)

    4. When you use WR, you come out of stealth. At that moment, the following buffs will occur:
    - Whirlwind Sneak Attack (+15% damage increase at first enc. used out of stealth)
    - Cunning Ambusher (+6% damage increase for 6 seconds or so after coming out of stealth)
    - Advantageous Position (Combat Advantage retained for extra 6 secs. or so after coming out of stealth = +15%~17% damage)

    5. Use Blitz: All of the above buffs will apply to Blitz. On crits, Blitz will deal at the least 10k~12k damage to each target hit, upto 5
    6. Against the tough mob you hit with WR, he will be dealt even more damage since he's already applied a -15% defense debuff
    7. Blitz itself will deal an additional -10% defense debuff on all targets hit

    8. If not many mobs, and only few tough mobs, then use Dazing Strike instead of Blitz. On crit it will hit for over 15k damage, deals the same -10% defense debuff, and daze your target for a long time as an added bonus, and can be used twice as more often than Lashing Blades.

    9. Remember, the mobs are being continuously damaged by the Disheartening Strike you landed at the beginning.
Don't forget to reapply DoTs after it runs out.

    10. You can repeat this spiking damage every 20 seconds or so.
(Actually, more like small spikes and big spikes alternately every 10~12 seconds, due to waiting for stealth bar to fill)

    ...

A superbly efficient PvE build. Still not as powerful as CWs, but not too shabby -- both in AoE and single-target.
Stop making excuses. Be a man.
If you know something to be broken, stop using it.
Otherwise, you've got no right to be speaking of 'balance.'

Don't think that just because of not being able to get Paingiver, that you shouldn't play your rogue. If you enjoy the class, and it's a lot of fun, then go for it. There are a lot of good targets for TRs in the T2 dungeons, elite CC immune mobs like maws, rimefire golems, magma brutes. Smoke bomb and Wicked Reminder can be assets to the whole group when used correctly. A number of boss fights usually involve the adds being kited and high single target damage is a must. A well played rogue can stay alive and finish a boss or at least keep his/her health from resetting. The key to getting into groups is finding ones that aren't just looking to stack CWs. Find a good guild or some other group that you can run with.

As far as your stats, generally speaking your first priority is Armor Pen, up to 24% (the highest known resistance of any mob) and then Crit, then Power. Recovery is important too but IIRC a fair number of armor sets will give you what you need. Crit should be in the range of 3000 to 3500. Try to get as close to 50% crit chance as you can. Go STR/DEX for your stats and don't neglect the Skillful Infiltrator passive.
