CW changes and Chilling Cloud

Hey,

I'm confused about CW builds right now. I've had a loooong look on the internetweb and in the forums here, and have decided that a Storm Thaum suits my interest in max-damage PvE the best (and it rhymes). However, I can't seem to decide whether a cold-based Storm-Thaum is regarded as higher DPS than a arcane-based S-T.

There seem to be some vague comments made about Chilling Cloud being nerfed, and Shield being nerfed; I only started playing 3 weeks ago and so have no previous knowledge of "the ways things were". Frustratingly, there seem to be no well-regarded CW builds newer than April 2013!! Which means that you never know if the info is out of date or not. A crippling nerf can kill a whole build. Has that happened?

Anyway....if someone can point me back on track that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
KJ

I have a great MoF CW build up here,

if you want spellstorm, the build would be pretty similar.

The purpose of chilling cloud is to proc frozen power transfer, it is rather weak without that feat. If you don't like chilling cloud, you could take destructive wizardly for storm pillar and use that instead (similar effect).

Thaum is still the best path, from everything i've seen. renegade might kill trash a little faster, but who cares? it's trash.

    Hope that helps,

Its not really a difference between cold vs arcane when maximizing damage. What you want to do is maximize AOE damage. The best specs for AOE damage revolve around Spellstorm and Thaum. The two best guides are the "Stox" and "Grimah" guides.

Sorry, but you didn't read this forum very thoroughly. There is a sticky link on top, which leads to at least one updated guide. And looking in this very forum you would also have found the second one: Both are very current and valid.

What you have to remember is that while they may of originally been posted in the past, they've been kept updated. :)
