Unable to use Enchants in new gear?

I apologize if there is already a thread here about this, didn't see it.

I tried to switch over my gems from my gear to the new PvP gear, but it wouldn't let me. Said it was the wrong enchant.

I was able to enchant my offhand, but my chest piece, main hand, and boots won't allow me to enchant them.

    Did you have them equipped? I heard somewhere that you can enchant the new gear if it's in your inventory.
