[PvP] Bilethorne vs. GF Guard

How does Bilethorn enchantment fare in ticking away GF guard?
Would it be as reliable as eating away with TR stealth?

I'm finding Plaguefire-Disheatening Strike is reliable, but still ticks too slow to really deal away enough guard on time, and as meticulous and long-winded the job is, it leaves room for error in which case, one unlucky knock-prone makes things really bad.

Is guard ticked off based upon the amount of damage done?

I have a GF and haven't really noticed BT eating up my Guard. It ticks, I hear my guard being chipped at, but I notice no depletion to my meter whether I have my shield raised or not.

In PVP, I just use Cloud of Steel to deplete my opponent's Guard Meter. Some DoT's will not affect a GF's guard as far as I can remember. It has to be either AoE or Direct Damage.

Got it. No DoTs.. Direct damage only. Check.

    Thanks!

Duelists Flurry+Bilethorn. Good bye shield. Atleast it used to be so, unless they fixed block meter finally. Haven't really paid much attention to it because mostly GFs aren't an issue for me in 1v1 situations.

The shield depletes with a duelists flurry without bilethorn.

    ^this.

Having been on the receiving end, DF from any well geared TR will rapidly deplete Guard. That said, it does appear to be a bit more consistent than Vorpal.

But its been a while since I've lost my Guard to DF. I tend to kite the instant I see the first or second frame of the DF animation, waiting just in range for just after the dodge roll to return fire, and I'm happy to soak a few hits of CoS but Guard IS spam. So, the real killer to an experienced GF is actually not DF Guard depletion but hard-hitting IS spam *then* a powerful attack sequence.

1 rotation of DF = 80% guard meter gone unless that GF stack like 55% DR or use some kind of feat or gear to increase his guard meter amount.

And your dagger does a really good job at breaking guard as well. So if you have problem breaking a GF's guard you have to be pretty green on TR or the GF is pretty pro.

...or, does not use the cookie-cutter Impact Shot/Cloud of Steel spamming. :)
