Hey

I haven't played in a long time and this question has probably been asked before. But is it still not possible to unbind companions to send them to .yourself.?

Thanks in advance.

No, they never got it to work and they eventually abandoned the idea. Maybe they will devote some programming resources to it again in the future, maybe not. Probably not.

Quite annoying since I have about € 30 of companions sitting on an alt I don't want to play on. Sigh.

Edit : The fact that they're stuck on this alt is in fact a bug as I purchased them on my main character right before or after the infamous caturday where everything went to hell.

"No, they never got it to work and they eventually abandoned the idea."

The only reason for them not fixing this is because they dont want too. Saying anything else is just false. They can make mounts accountbound but not companions? :P

You are incorrect. Devs discussed this during beta and after launch. It's not the same thing as making mounts account bound. The account bound mounts are simply reclaimable on any character. You don't move the existing mount, you get a new copy of it. For companions, they were trying to keep them bind-on-equip but add an unbinding method which proved to be difficult for some reason.

It's not that they don't want to. They wanted to make it work so that you could level up a companion, unbind it, and then sell it on the AH. This would have generated a lot of AH sales, some of which would stimulate ZEN purchases because of people using the exchange. And the AD costs to unbind would have also resulted in some ZEN purchases. They wanted that revenue stream.

sorry but "fixing this" is not quite correct since it was tested during development and it never was enabled during open beta or live.

the actual quote was during development testing, unbinding "didn't quite fit the game so it was turned off."

some pack companions and all promo companions are account-wide through the rewards claim agent. but once a companion is bound, it cannot be unbound. WAI.

^This and also what Silvergryph said about the want of it.
But here's the up-side: because of the utter-loudmouths bishing-and-whining about it, (Of which I claim to have been among the loudest,) calling for a switch to account-bound or the lowering of Z-Store Companion pricing... Cryptic has, in fact, lowered Z-Store Companion pricing across the grid.

Hence, I think it's only fair to acknowledge Cryptic's good-faith effort in this regard. And also remember: because real money is involved here it can take a while for these kind of changes to be approved and then implemented.
