I have a few questions concerning the (relatively) new paragon path as well as gear for a destroyer GWF. Mainly, is the paragon path worth it? I just ran a ring farm in CN and the other GWF in the group and while he did have better enchants than me, he was also running the new path. His damage ended up being about 4 million over mine ><. Would this be on the account of the new path giving faster (for aow bonus) and harder hitting powers?
This GWF was also running a perfect vorpal. I'm building to a greater plaguefire, but was wondering if I should switch to vorpal instead? I like the idea of helping out the team and debuffing enemies/bosses, but does the debuff outweigh the potential damage I could be doing with a vorpal?
My last question is about armor sets. Currently, I'm running 2/2 vigilant warlord with 2/2 avatar of war. I do have the missing pieces of aow, but have been hesitant to use them, not seeing how big of a difference the 4/4 bonus makes. So to the experienced GWFs on top of their game, can you help me out here? Thanks ^^

If you want to do damage then yes to Vorpal, yes to 4/4 AoW. That and the higher rank enchants probably explains the damage difference. As long as you have Student of the Sword (instigator) and Deep Gash (Destroyer) then feats don't make that much of a difference as far as damage goes. If you do go IV then the 3rd most important feat for damage is Battle Trample which is 10 points into sentinel. If you stay SM then you're fine with Destroyer with Focused Destroyer feat.
you may be whatever you like SM or IV, Instigator Destroyer or Sentinel as long as you have these things: Deep Gash, Power as much as you can and Pvorpal (or anything close to that). Reason for that is cause a big part of your overall dmg is from deep gash alone that has 100% crit and benefits from Power while the other big part is done by your atwill.
Vorpal is too powerful to go with anything else. The crits are just too big! Also, the bigger the crits, the bigger your deep gash, which puts out a lot of DPS at the moment. I personally am running with 2/4 Illyanbruen (same stat types as AoW but higher numbers) and 2/4 VW, and I feel that I like it more than 4/4 AoW, but I know a lot of people swear by AoW. As for the new paragon path, in my opinion, it has made Swordmaster (SM) obsolete. I do SOOO much more damage as Iron Vanguard (IV) than I ever did as SM. And when I'm in parties with other GWFs that are running SM, even when they outgear me, I beat their damage by a couple million. Weapon Master's Strike no longer beats Wicked Strike as the At-Will AoE, and Frontline Surge does so much stupid damage, it makes Flourish laughable. Flourish is bad anyway...It CCs you as well as your target, does little damage, and it's incredibly easy to avoid.
So, my advice: get a vorpal, go IV, pick whatever gear you like, and have fun. GWFs are actually very viable right now, and I'm so glad they're back to being fun again

First of all: Thanks everyone. Makes me a bit sad that I dumped all these refinement points into my lesser plaguefire but what works works I suppose.
And to thefirsthipster, would you mind posting your feats and powers here? I want to respec to do stupid damage, but don't want to waste points anywhere or mess up my class ><. Thank you

If you want stupid damage, and you're looking at Instigator/Destroyer (IV) and not Sentinel, take a look at this thread here.

I actually bookmarked this while researching different builds, but now seeing as it is the way to go to wreck adds, I'll go ahead and respec. I knew saving that free respec token we got in module 2 would pay off haha. Thank you guys for your input!
