Blue Gears Better

I find it funny how the blue gear I have is better than the T1 and even some of the T2 for Power/Crit and I can keep up with, or even out dps a fully epic'd ranger, yet because their blue I get penalized on the GS so people wont invite me =p.

Why is our blue gear so much better for DPS than the T1 gear? Anyone else having issues like this? I'll be darned I'm gonna give up my blues for crappier epics all for a better GS.

You do realise that most of our armor sets don't really offer Power/Crit right?
You also realise that its not just the gear that determines dps on the Paingiver table right?

epics give set bonuses. That's really the main reason/focus for people to get them. Using enchants to pick up what the blues miss, it makes it so you can go forward and get better GS. As Obsidian pointed out, skill matters. A lot. So just because that HR was in epics, doesn't mean they have more skill than you. There's too many variables to know for sure what was going on in that situation.

Actually I was thinking; feats, power selection, dex, wis, and timing all matter a lot more than the numbers on your gear.

With the same gear stats having 2 lower Dex means that every attack you do 2% less damage. If the other HR drops the mob with their attack you get no damage. Etc.

thats because most of the epic gear has stats too far spread out in multiple catagories.

If you're going for straight damage, then yes blue gears are better. However you'll be a glass cannon that drops in two shots. I know, I was one of those cannons. Epic gear, especially the set pieces, focuses more on balance, offering defensive stats that the blue gear doesn't and giving set bonuses to make up for the sacrifice in power. Do yourself a favor and invest the time in earning epic great, you won't regret it

The blue gear is still useful after you get some epics, rings and belts are still good items to use. But tier set bonuses are amazing.

The one thing epic gear provides is more "fortitude". Meaning you can deflect more or have higher defense. This is very important when
running T2's or higher. If you are constantly Dead you are not providing DPS or support. Having the highest power rating in a group does little good when your on your back. Aim for getting some good overall Defense Scores and Deflect. Don't base the quality of your character on strictly Power/Armpen/Crit. Also choose your encounters for both Damage and Survival.

In the 4 piece t2 GG set with rank 7s I think I am around 13.6k GS with Greater Vorpal.

    Good Luck,

yeah, I never took the set bonuses into account. I've started replacing some gear now with more defense/deflect until I can get the T2 set/Vorp. Thanks for the input fella's

The +6 Blue gear actually has more stats than T2 gear including the 2 sets of 2 pc set bonuses. The +6 Stalker Head/Arms/Boots has a stat spread of 236 variable/420 ArPen/167 Defense/420 Deflect. In total of 1243 stats per peice. The stat spread for T2 is 279/279/170 Defense/126/126 for a total of 980. Even counting the +450 stat 2 pc, the Blue gear comes out ahead. Even the +5 gear has a total of 1100 stats per hear/arm/foot peice. Depending on build, I would say the blue gear can be superior in some situations. The real advantage T2 has is the 4 pc set bonuses, some of which are really good, and the armor enchantment that the blue gear does not have. It could be beneficial to run 2 pc +6 blue gear with 2 pc T2 to get the armor enchantment.

I am currently experimenting with a Nature Tank build, and even in my fresh 60s infancy, the +5 Warden's Gear of Protection is superior in every way to the epic gear, except once I can obtain them, the 2 pc master predator, again, for the armor enchant and some crit.
