Info on Doomguides?

Ever since the first time I ran through the Neverdeath Graveyard, I've wanted to know more about or even RP that one of my characters is or was a Doomguide. Is there more to them than that they follow Kelemvor and seem to actively work to put down undead and necromancers? For instance, there's that mission where we help Acolyte Neyman cleanse the lynching tree; She seems like a more capable person than the team of Doomguides that they sent in and you have to search for/rescue, yet she's only referred to as an "acolyte". Is an acolyte simply a rank of Doomguide? Can any follower of Kelemvor be a Doomguide? Are they basically a guild? It seems that they have fighters and rangers in their ranks, so I'm assuming you need not be a cleric.

Anyone have any thoughts/input on the matter?

Thank you.

All I could find was here but I'm guessing you would have already checked it out - http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Doomguide

I actually hadn't checked that out yet. It's quite interesting how consoling those close to the departed is a big part of their work. I also like the little quip at the end about how they become better at healing when undead are around. Thanks!
