A thought on Dungeon Grouping

While running an Epic dungeon tonight, I had an idea that might improve the ability for some of us to finish the more difficult runs. It would be cool if someone could log off of one character and relog as another but still be in the original group.

For instance, in our run tonight, my GF was not pulling his weight and we got our rear handed to us repeatedly. I tried switching to my TR who can cause much damage, but was unable to regroup or enter the dungeon. Lucky for the group, the queue system now allows others to join from queue. I just wish I could have finished the dungeon with my alt since I did the work through the dungeon.

Neat idea but what would happen if this was implemented? Tanks would join que and get in right away then switch to DPS character. Would be just used as a way to get their dps character in dungeons without waiting. Is this something you would like to see happen or?... I would rather see special group queing that allows people to join groups that agree a tank or healer is not needed. If people can finish dungeons with no tanks and no heals ...all the power to em. 5 dps and would solve the issue of waiting forever in que as a dps.... or at least help somewhat.

For this to work, we would still require the level-requirement to be, uh, required. Basically, what would happen if I join a queue as a lvl 20 character, then switch to a lvl 60 character? And what would happen if I join as a lvl 60, then switch to a lvl 15? But if everyone needs to be the correct level, there's rarely any point in switching characters in the first place. And as you said, people can join through the queue now anyway. If your tank gets the group wiped, just kick him/her and get a new one.

Another solution to your issue is forming a group throuh LFG. This way you have far more control who joins, and who they join with. It still sucks that a queue-PUG can't finish the dungeon, but it wouldn't be fun if everyone could finish every dungeon every time. Where's the challenge in that, and feeling of accomplishment when you finally finish a difficult dungeon? :)

I would agree that the level requirement remain intact ofc and dndmasterdark has a very good point. Maybe if they reqork the need for a healer or tank first, the rest will be easier. However, my point was more to the fact that we had formed a group that was working well together. None of us wanted to kick me (the crappy tank) but we all agreed we could use more dps. Since I have multiple 60s I offered to switch. This is where my problem was. Unfortunately, I'm not a designer and don't know how to make it work properly, but some discussion within the forums might pave the way to a better system. Thanks those that have responded.

I wish you could invite people while in the queue. Not being able to get your friend/guildie/etc. that could easily save your run is really annoying (and having to wait on PUGs to join).
