shower of lights being consumed on purchase?

I picked up 7 shower of lights to send to one of my alts earlier today and two of them were instantly consumed giving the alt 440 lights. This is frustrating because now I'll have to either use the remaining shower of lights on that character or farm some of the events so that those lights won't go to waste. Already submited a bug report in game, just curious if anyone else was having similar issues.
