Help needed in selecting new companion

I know this has been discussed many times, but there are many new companions and I am quite confused.

My favourite game play is:

Playing solo with a level 60 GWF and a Cleric Disciple level 30. This is a great combo unless the aggro is too numerous. Then I switch to

Playing solo with a Wolf, level 30. Unfortunately, this wolf has no staying power and usually dies early in a serious fight.

Both are quite well equipped and buffed.

I would like some advice on who to select instead of the wolf.
Suggestions would be welcome.

You should be fine with the DC as I have a 10.5K GWF with a green, level 20, DC companion and while playing solo I have never been in any real danger even with the (extremely) annoying aggro issues this module.

However, if you must change companion you might as well get a Ioun Stone now while they are dirt cheap. No aggro issues, a huge boost to your character's power and more or less essential if you ever want to do Dungeons at a high level.

I am finding that many of my companions are also not very tough. I suspect that it might need to come out to tuning even the DPS pets towards some sort of survivability (higher defense, greater HP from runes).

i REALLY dont wanna go through the grind of saving up millions of AD to upgrade my Companion's quality, so i'm just gonna be buying a Purple one and that'll be that

this already narrows it down to 4 choices:

    Galeb Duhr

    Honey Badger

    Sprite

    Will-o-wisp

so my 1st question: is any one of these CLEARLY better than the others?

if not, a little more relevant info: my main toon is a ranged focused HR, so since none of the options available is a healer, i'd like a melee comp that can take aggro and distract the enemy while i shoot it

with that in mind, i'm currently leaning toward Galeb, with the badger in close consideration

Actually you raised a good point.

I found that HP and Defense runes worked wonders on my DC companion. I have read that lifesteal and regen are very good for the Dire Wolf.

On the topic of companions - I'd love to be able to equip the ones that use weapons, with said weapons - AND have the character model reflect that. How cool would it be to pick what sword and shield your man at arms uses, or what orb your wayward wizard is equipped with?
