Hi,
So following the epic nerf on a CW's crit chance and ap gain has anyone come up with a decent fire mage dps build? I've tried tinkering around with the fire side, but it seems like it is more designed for control as opposed to damage so I've gone back to using this build ...
http://mmominds.com/2013/09/09/smittys-renegade-cw-crit-happens/ ...with a couple of modifications for my play style. But its just not the same build since the crit nerf...
Actually i'd be happy if anyone could tell me how to get my crit chance back :P ive gone from critting like 80-90% of the time to critting like 50% which is a big drop.
any help would be really helpful.

It sounds like you are missing a key component for the high crit range: Eye of the Storm.
If you use the MoF path, then you don't have that class ability, which means no constant critting. MoF is about control + burnafication. I personally found the oppressor path amazingly useful as you are constantly freezing things while lighting them up. By extention it keeps the dot going from scorch indefidently and (once the bug is fixed) can be a constant DPS on target, rather you are in range or not.
Outside of that, I haven't really had an AP gain issue. It's faster the more things I burn.
I found that without the Eye of the Storm I was hardly critting at all. So I went back to using my old build for spell storm which is basically the link I posted above... but I'm still not critting anywhere near as much as I was . Maybe i just need to increase my GS to gain my crit back... its only 11.2k atm.
Also im keen to try out your oppressor MoF idea... do you have any tips? Do you use that yourself? Is it more of a DoT build? Or can you gain some instant hard-hitting dps like you used to be able to before the nerf?
