I have a friend who's very dear to me, that might have messed up with the levelling of their CW, but I'm not sure, I've never played a CW, am more of a TR person, so I didn't really have many tips for them.
The thing is, my friend is a very sensitive person with a very unlucky life, so being unsuccessful in a game makes them feel like they can't so anything in real life or in a game, so I really hope something can be done to change this possible issue.
They are a lvl60 CW with roughly 9.6 GS (we are working on Dread Ring and Sharandar dailies atm for better armour so we will be able to deal with some epic dungeons).
What bothers them a lot, as they told me yesterday, is that their power is too low (about 1000) and their recovery is too high (2400 or so).
Their attack/healing, if i remember right, is about 4000 but it might be lower.
now I wonder, can these stats be fixed up to better with new armours and different enchantments?
If not, I believe they should have a respec token from the last update (where we all got one, if I'm correct), will that help fixing their stats?
Also, does respeccing cost AD or not, because somewhere I read that apparently it does, but the post was from May so that might have been changed already?
They are especially upset about not being able to survive a bigger attack when playing solo, which I am able to survive, because my dps and crit are about 1000 higher.
Basically what they need is a build that can survive solo, but is also good in a team play with mostly a rogue, but also others.
If you have any tips for that I would be extremely grateful, because this sweet person deserves to be happy, and I don't have the knowledge yet to help them out with this problem.

1. Go to AH and buy a pile of blue quality youth armor. This comes with regen and defense and is stupidly cheap, yay!
2. Equip armor.
3a. Now you can survive a bit, go PvP/GG until you get your PvP/GG armor. At the very least, get enough GG coins to get the orb and off-hand. They're great until you can get Ancient/Fomorian/Fallen Dragon sets.
OR
3b. Go run T1 dungeons and get your archmage set (I ran a 2/2 of archmage and T1 PvP for ages until I got my HV set). Still get the GG orb and off-hand.
Enchants: Radiants in every defensive slot. In offensive slots, whatever stats you're missing.
Accessories: Grab the stuff from the unicorn vendor at first. Pick the ones that suit your stat shortfalls. Later upgrade to ancient rings or pyrotechnic bands and a Grand/Ancient neck. Belt...Blue quality belt for offense, epic level belt for defense.
Companion: If he doesn't already have a cleric...get the cleric. Best 2G you'll ever spend. Once gear to the point where sharandar/dread ring is a walk in the park get an augment pet.
Build: I like thaum. My build looks like this...ish(working off memory here). That said, go read Grimrah's build guide and CW guide, possibly the best reading material an aspiring high level CW can read.

GG will have to wait, since me and another friend of mine are currently saving up AD to get a stag for the friend we speak of, so they will be able to keep up with me and my yeth in GG, but that might take a while.
They are working on getting the full unicorn armour set, but atm they are more focused on getting the fawn in winter event (they really like deer) and if I remember correctly, the fawn is a healing companion, so that's a good thing, right?
I'll make sure we get into more T1 dungeons then, I personally love doing dungeons but they aren't that hyped about them.
I believe most of their armour is blue, save for the purple orb (which is a moon-shaped one from dread ring), neck (the protector's enchave cape you get when you reach lvl60) and I think a hat or something else, I honestly don't remember right now, next time we play i ought to cap their profile.
Basically, we have to aim for an Archmage armour, later a GG one, and it would be best for them to check those build guides and respec their stats, am I correct?
Thank you very much for your reply, I'm getting a clearer picture now (:

Sadly, I have no idea. I can't actually play the winter festival ;_; because I'm on my work laptop as I visit my family for the holidays.
Dungeons are the best way(except piles of real mover->zen->AD) to gear up. Better get used to running them because Feywild and Dread Ring gear will only get you so far(well, you can technically do most dungeons in the game with just low level epic gear, but it'll cost you in injury kits, potions and time...some you won't be able to do at all, because they're a dps/survival check *cough*Spider and Valindra*).
The youth armor is what I consider the best blue armor to ease into L60 content with because it supplies high HP regen and good defense and at ~1 day worth of invoking AD per piece, dang cheap. Both of which are very useful when you're not so heavily overgeared that stuff dies when you glare at it funny. But yeas, if you're running a T1 and you get a choice of armour in the chest, I would personally pick archmage(for the 4/4 bonus). If your friend would like more defense, the fatebender set is also very good.
The GG set has no regen, but by this point you should be getting used to the attacks enemies use in dungeons. If it doesn't work for his playstyle as a full set, it's still good as a 2/2 with gear that does give regen.
Finally, there's no need to follow the build guides to the letter, but using them as a general framework for what works well for many CW players. For instance, if your friend detests using icy terrain because it's too close to the melee for comfort, then there's no need to pick it, likewise if he doesn't use shard or icy rays very often then the feat that buffs those powers would be better off swapped for another.
In a nutshell...T1 armor(Archmage or Fatebender)+healing companion/augment pet with defensive gear -> GG T2 weapon/offhand maybe armor ->T2 dungeons

If you wanna do better in battle, than prioritize battle armor, not deer and stags. Efficiency first, cosmetics later?
CWs can feel hugely powerful in solo play from very early on, but you gotta use AoEs, not single target spells. I keep seeing these mages with enfeeblement and icy rays while they face 5 mobs. Put on those Steal Time, Shard of the Endless Avalanche, Icy Terrain and Shield if you're squishy.
PS: if you get Archmage, next step would be High Vizier, GG armor would be more of a sidestep and an alternative set, not really an upgrade.

I don't put these things first, but my friend does and they have their reasons. Besides it has a lot to do with efficency; the stag is an epic quality mount that will make GG much easier for them (currently they own a common horse) and the fawn is a healer companion they could use. Besides there's only so much time avaliable for them to get the fawn.
They are a casual player and they really like deer and no one should judge them for that. They play for fun firstly, y'know? It's me who's more into the game and into the dungeons and all that but we play together, so they need to toughen up as well.
I mean I guess they could do GG with a common horse but they would feel pretty bad with a mount much slower than mine, that's just how they are, and I understand where they come from.
From what I can tell they mostly use AoE attacks.
I read the guides that tang linked and yeah, first Archmage, then High Vizier was what they said as well, so I'll tell my friend about that.
Thanks about the GG armour tip though!

Yeah, I am not on the good terms with the winter festival either, but my friend REALLY wants that deer, as in, they gained 1300 lights in three days which is bloody insane I collected 95 so far lmao. They are an unstoppable deer-powered force.
I just went in-game to get a cap of the fawn's stats and I notice that my friend is farming lights again/still. They are out of control oh my god
We are both GS-set for most common epic dungeons (9.6-9.7) but that is still quite low. I have a really capable cleric friend though, who usually teams up with us. We will definitely try to run some now that I have some winter break.
I think Archmage is what they have been thinking about going for, so that's great!
I'll def tell them to check out the youth armour set (full set?). Other than AH, where is it gained?
I will definitely let them know which direction they should go for, thank you very much for your help (:

Look, just to be clear, nobody is judging anybody else
However.
This is an issue of combat. Your friend has problems staying alive and performing even in the most simple level 60 content. To improve on this, you need gear. The deer is a bad choice of companion, but since it's free, it's OK until you get a stone/cat, but after that it shouldn't see the light of day.
As for the mount, if your friend has issues in Sharandar, PvP is the last thing in this whole world he would want to be as a CW. I've geared for months of intensive play and I get destroyed each and every day I do PvP. A fast mount is the last step, AFTER you're decently geared. I'd say that PvP should not be a priority for now at all.
Trust me, if your friend is a very sensitive person, unlucky life etc., the very last thing they want is to be one-shotted in PvP again and again.
there are no "failures" in neverwinter. so what if you make a mistake... it's not like it can't be undone in some way. except for initial ability rolls, but i'm going to assume that your friend isn't a min/maxer.
that said, there's been some great advice in this thread on the topic of gear and how to acquire it. personally, on my mage, i focused on the entertainment factor from leveling her up to acquiring gear. and i most certainly did the grind to acquire my first zen store fast mount, the heavy howler, and that was before i had my first sought after set or rank 7 enchants. initially i was using two halves of sets to gain the bonuses from both. so for me, it's been a continual build from day one. and there's no rush to reach that goal as long as you're enjoying the process along the way.
You don't need a fast mount for GG, not even the PVP part. Of course you won't ever be at the top of the scoreboards, but who cares? Everybody on the same team gets the same amount of Grym coin at the end anyway, regardless of the speed of your mount.
If you want the both of you to be able to keep up with each other, you can both ride 50% mounts.

The blue gear is just a common drop. Do enough dread ring or sharandar and you'll find pieces of it as RNG loot.

PvP is not their priority at all though they are not a big fan of it in the least, I'm sorry if I made it sound like that's what they aim for.
As for staying alive, they don't die a lot, because they play with me most of the time, and we make a pretty decent team. Throughout the whole game we died very few times. But I assume that they might have built their character leaning too much on the mindset that they are only playing in a team, which is why they made it very hard for themselves to play solo.
I didn't do that mistake, because I've been playing NW for a much longer time, I messed up a rogue before, so this time around I knew better.

I know that, but it's their mindset entirely that makes them THINK they are not as good as everyone else, and it makes them feel awful, especially if I, who is basically their guide in the game, have a faster mount.
I guess I could use my boar for this though, you're right.
