I was playing around in Foundry for hours. Exited the game because I had to run an errand. Came back an hour later, opened ARC, clicked NW, it went to the login screen, I clicked play, went all the way through the CRYPTIC screen, then got to

and after 9 minutes I decided to go to task manager, I see it's not responding (obviously).
Tried again, same thing. Shut down my computer, restarted and tried again, same thing. Ran it as admin, same thing.
Please explain how the game worked an hour ago, but no longer functions properly.
Is this game still in beta? Patches every day, technical problems all the time. I post bugs and issues here, sometimes even using error codes and get no response from developers. So far I had to download the game TWICE, wait for hours for those downloads and even more hours for patches. Perhaps I should download the whole thing again? and both patches?
You already have me hooked, I want to play your game. PLEASE work with me.
As a free to play game, you need to show me you are reliable in order to encourage me to spend money on your product. I want to play a ranger, I will need another character slot, but I can not make a financial commitment with your company until I feel more secure. In the short time I have played your game I have experienced many technical glitches and received no feedback of any kind. Please, as a long time D&D consumer who has easily spent hundreds of dollars on WOTC/Hasbro products, reassure me. More important, make my game work
lol, I guess in the hour that I was gone they whipped up another 500 MB patch. Well, if anything, the number of patches show they care. What ever. I will no longer post in this thread because I can see it is pointless, sorry for my QQing. Here's hoping I can play after this new dang patch downloads.
Thank you for the game, better than NWN2 all around. Toolset not as good as NWN1 but gameplay way better. Graphics are good, let's have some OR logic please, and maybe some event handling like the OnDeath and OnSPawn scripts for the Aurora toolset. Perhaps some ambient creatures like deer or moose, need rust monster, purple worm, Xorn, carrion crawler, dragons and way more non-humanoid monsters in toolset. Swimming? Climbing? No flying, it ruins the game.
I am not here to argue with you. I patched this morning and my game is patching right now. Tell me I am wrong.
OMG, I figured out the problem. After waiting for a 500 MB download, for nothing. While I was in foundry I set my graphics far higher than the recommended settings, so I could see how things would look for people with real computers. When I logged out I forgot to reset them to recommended.
When I finally was able to log back in I got the message "Graphics have been reset" blah blah blah. All that for nothing, there you go PWE, you can just sticky this thread now.
Soooo, I know I promised not to post here anymore, but as usual I lied. The game finally started working again, was making changes to my quest in the foundry. Playing through testing changes and the game just crashed out of nowhere. Tried to start it back up again and same thing. Loading...
I force verified and now I am doing a 2000 MB download. WTH!? I just re-downloaded the whole game AGAIN the other day, one 5k DL, and the two patches, now I have to DL another 2k? How is the game getting corrupted so I have to do all these downloads?
I did a search and can't seem to find anybody else having similar problems. WHY? This is bogus!
It sounds like your computer is in BAD NEED of maintenance.
Right-click your Drive C: Icon and choose properties.
In the properties window, choose the TOOLS tab.
Run a disk check and turn on the checkbox to scan for bad sectors.
It really sounds like your disk is becoming corrupt (it happens over time).
NOTE: when you tell the system to check the hard disk - it will say it cannot (because MS Windows cannot be closed and so files are open on the disk) - it will ask you to "schedule" a check on next restart. Here's the important bit: if you turn on the sector checking (which I do recommend you do) - it will take a LONG-*** TIME to complete - depending how large your hard disk is. If it's a 250-500 GB disk - plan for it to take a couple HOURS to complete.
Perhaps just run the disk-check without sector checking first (that only takes about 5 to 10 minutes) - then run the full sector scan before going to bed or something.
In any case, it appears that the problem you are having is with your local computer system, not the game (server-side) itself.
Good luck.
EDIT to add: if the problem continues, then try running SYSTEM RESTORE and go backward about a week, but definitely run your check-disk first. I had this problem with Preview (but not Live) and my only fix was -cringe- reinstalling Windows from scratch (hey, it was in-need anyway).
@angrysprite, thank you for the thoughtful and excellent advice. I truly appreciate positive feedback from the community. I ran scan disk (no errors found), I ran disk defragmenter (0% fragmented), I went down to the command prompt and ran CHKDSK C: /F /X /R and it found no errors or bad sectors. result? Loading... I am pretty sure my windows is working properly, it is totally up to date and runs other applications just fine. I regularly use Apache OpenOffice, Gimp, and Unity (a free development tool), all of which are large and two of which are graphics intensive, all with no similar problems as those I am experiencing with this game.
I am in a quandary. I can not make enough sad faces to express my frustration. I do not expect I will get any official response to this post, in fact the only reason I am even making it is because I now, regrettably, have ample free time.

The first time after a patch I get this. Then I force quit reload and it works great. Double check that on-demand patching is turned off in the launcher options as well as that can cause loading issues though those issues are usually zone loading issues.
