Just another new 60 asking for PvP builds from experienced & "pro" players

Hello, i just reached lvl 60 with a control wizard. I've seen a lot of videos in youtube showing some PvP builds, and some dicussions here but in most of them the person doing the build doesn't seem to have any kind of "professional" experience like tournaments or playing for a LONG time (read: knowing their sh*t).

So what i'm asking for is a PvP guide (items, stats, feats, powers, rotation order, etc.) from a pro POV for high end PvP gameplay. If such thing exist i'd be eternally grateful if you showed me.

Thank you very much.

There is no true "pro" high end PvP gameplay from CWs. Yeah you can go mess around and build to 35K HP and use 7 GTEs... yet when the good&geared TRs, GFs or GWFs get to you, you're fried, simple as that.

If you want to rule in PvP, switch to another class. CWs die the most and have on them always at least 2 high damage prone/stun melee machines as soon as they cast a spell.

So if you like being tossed around like a ragdoll and stunned all the time to death, sure, continue to PvP as a CW.

The undisputed king of CW killers is TR. An equally geared moderately skilled TR will always kill a CW in a one/one situation.
GWF is probably the king of all classes if you want to focus on PVP.
A good PVP speced Cleric can make its team godly and be near unkillable unless focused by 2+ people.

Cw is really not strong and not even needed that much since Ranger comes out.

Not gonna debate CW or HR who is better, but everyone agree TR/GWF are stronger in PVP. There is a huge limit for CW in PVP, and the only place a CW shine is when u are doing premade with a good team, rainbow if possible, otherwise CW gets facerolled really hard.

Yeah I agree. Level 60 PVP as a CW is a waste of time. You have to make yourself *so* tanky, with defense, deflect and HP *everywhere*, that you barely have enough stat space to have any arpen or crit at all.

Roll a GWF and PVP with that. It is easy-mode PVP.

I don't do PvP. But it looks like CW has problems dealing with melees, when 1v1. So maybe the strategy is always be with at least one party member?

Things have changed quite a bit.

You can build tanky AND with decent ArP and some crit, especially because of what artifacts offer at epic/legendary levels. I know a CW that has 38K HP or so with GG set and you can bet that even without super gear, she will win against squishy builds by pure endurance.

So it's possible, but as always, you have to just give up PvE efficiency.

Tanky. That is the way to go.

Some cw have great sucess in building full glass cannon. But again in premade I can just send a full burst TR to camp u. you will die in 2 shot if crit...

Yeah.. CWs are crappy in PvP and shouldn't go into premades now.. Oh wait, what does this pic say?

CW is just a very hard class to play and few can do it. But there are several CWs on the server who will tell you how good they can be.

OP, forum message me for help :)

That's true. By the way, you got an amazing gear setup. Really good to see someone thinking out of the box. Himinir would be proud.

Somebody in that other team didn't do their job properly it seems, even as I see very good players in it.

The key is that Shard is REQUIRED to do well. The mass proning and big damage is what makes us still worth it /: without shard, you guys are all correct. HR beats us in every other department.

And thank you :) love my Icy set

How do you kill Stealth->Fan of Blades->Impact Shot (with stun)->Impact Shot->Impossible to Catch->Impact Shot->At Wills until ITC ends? Even if you get the dodge in on the last Impact shot, the obligatory single dodge for fan of blades, and an extra dodge for fan of blades and have some health left, it's just a Shadow Strike, repeat scenario. Looks like that TR wasn't bothering to focus you.

Don't get me wrong that is impressive, but looking at kills/assists, it looks like there were multiple people DPSing your kills (or a significant portion of them) - Icy Rays is great for kill shots, and I imagine Shardsplosion could be as well. Personally I like it if I am against a CW with Shard since it is so easy to dodge when you know the push cd timing, but I can see how it messes with melee even though a TR should be able to avoid it pretty easy.

I think the real question comes down to, with equal gear & equal skill do you feel that CW is on par with other classes?

I have no doubts your CW is a pro killer.

My post only noticed that if you have so many kills, some in the other team did not do their job, especially after you started amassing such a monstrous number of kills. If they have done their job, you would have had 2 melees putting so much pressure on you, you'd barely had time to cast that slow shard (I use it as well, but not with smart CWs with EF and Repel around).

In PREMADES I'm sure that CWs are just fine, because you're playing with an organized group who all have a shared objective of winning the match. Furthermore premades understand the importance of having a CW in order to take nodes.

In PUGs, CWs are not even worth playing because in about 90% of the cases, nobody really cares about winning the match, only about running around and hitting people. So TRs on the opposing team see you as fresh meat, and your own team sees you as a big nothing.

I never engage a TR alone man. I know they can take me 90% of the time if I am alone. I am most helpful when I debuff, prone, and hold enemies for my teammates. So that is what I do sir. PvP is not a 1v1 and shouldn't be played that way. For example: go up top, shard lock the enemy CW or HR, drop to pillar, root the DC in mid, shard whatever is there so you or you team can clear, book it out of there so you don't die, repeat. Basically, show up, clean up, run elsewhere before you die.

That being said. Yes, if you want to 1v1 and/or hold points, don't play CW lol you will get stomped.

    Not truly accurate.

It's actually the premades that put WAY more pressure on the CW. If they don't, then they're as dumb as a pug and don't deserve to be called a premade.

I do way better in a pug matches because I go around one shotting (one encounter rotation) most people, including most TRs. The issues arise when a good team notices me and they have a TR always on me or around me or GFs keeping me prone/on the run and instead of doing my thing and kill stuff, I have to kite for an eternity.

I have thought of an idea to keep some bias out of this. I will record my next premade and post the vid In our class forum. You guys be the judge :) no I won't be mad if you say I suck lol be honest.

    Sound fair?

Yea, I still go 1:1 with anything but a decent rogue (and a few GWFs) to hold a point, just for that chance of a win.
But so frustrating knowing I will absolutely lose against a single TR camping a point and just having to run away while he holds it.

And I was in no way saying you suck if that was referring to me. I know how hard you have to work for kills at times as a CW.

The point is, with premades you can count on some support. With PUGs, fuhgetaboutit.
