Literally worthless BOP items on boss drops

<rant>Ok, let me preface this by saying that I have had no problem with loot drops in general until now. Right now however, I am seriously pissed. Just got through a Karrandux run as a cw and won a loot roll on reinforced dragon scale bracers for a gwf. Not what I would've wanted but w/e I can sell it. OH BUT WAIT! The worthless boss drop is BOP! It's not associated with a set, my class can't use it and I can't even give it to a friend. This cannot happen if the game is to keep patronage. It goes against every set convention in the game for item drops. This item either needs to become boe or removed from boss drops. If it's that amazing, make it one of the items ONLY a gwf can pull from a dd chest. Really really not happy about this<rant/>

This is why BoP is a terrible mechanic in general, and needs to be removed entirely.

Next thing you know tomorrow enchants will be BOP. Then, maybe the next day they will decide to remove the AH. Seems like this is heading in the right direction if they want to entirely eliminate any market in this game.

"reinforced dragon scale bracers" <-- if they are a level 60 purple/Epic item, you can Salvage it by approaching the Salvager in the PE market and right clicking on it.

Otherwise, if its not a level 60 purple/Epic, yeah, I agree there are many Bound situations in this game that makes no sense, especially for the amount of effort expended to receive them. This is a direct consequence of the developers literally flipping a switch to turn most loot rewards from BoE to BoP with the Feywild module without checking things like class-specific Bound loot.

Instead of fixing little things like this that significantly improve playability without irritating the playerbase, they remove even more farming opportunities...

I don't even agree with that, I fully understand dd chests being bop. They actually help your class, but getting an item that your class can't use, can't sell and can't give to another character you own is unacceptable on every level.

Yes I can salvage it but I think your right on this. It really looks like they never bothered to go through the relatively small item list to decide what became bop. Just flipped the switch and said good enough. BoP is fine if someone goes through the list and marks what should and shouldn't be properly.

In another MMo there is smart loot. I have always favored smart loot as it is always something someone in the party can use. In the cases with farming.....well I can see the issues Bind to account is a little more lenient. Been here since beta and I remember the recent past where loot was for sale which was end content worthy.....really made it too easy to get great gear.

A healthy compromise would be bind to account . Beyond That I am loathe to agree to items being traded freely.

    Just my opinion.
Today we fight the GAULS......monstrous and HAIRY beyond reason.

    Yes I can salvage it

Since you can salvage it, it isn't worthless to you.

Salvage is worthless when you already have 500K RAD.

Either way , aside from BOP being an unfavorable idea, I have run normal karru solo before on my sent gwf trying to get a caldera blade for my rogue. My first drop was a lv 58 CW helmet. [Firegiant Crown]. This is a purple epic item, but it came BOP and it could not be salvaged. Hence, this is an example of literally worthless BOP. After I found out these drops were going to be BOP, I ran a semi permastealth build on my rogue and soloed it from the rogue. After I got the Caldera Blade, I went to check and it is also a lv 58 epic purple which cannot be salvaged and is also BOP.

Any bop drop you can't salvage can be sold for gold to help with potion costs and the like, giving them worth.

I havent spent money on pots in months. Heck I havent spent gold at all in months. Gold will finally become usefull in the next mod , but its been useless for a awhile now. I carry 200 pots on me at all times and I never had to buy them.

That you don't need to buy potions doesn't mean that nobody does. That there will be more uses for gold when Module 2 goes live simply strengthens my point that no bop drop is useless.

It's useless when spending the same time running around sharandar as running the dungeon would net you ~5x more gold.

Running around Sharandar doesn't give you the potential dungeon reward, and that is why people do dungeons - the chance to drop the dungeon reward they are seeking, not the gold return provided from running it.

For that matter, nobody runs around Sharandar for the purpose of getting gold. It is simply a fringe benefit one gets from doing the quests there, just as earning gold is a fringe benefit of doing dungeons.
