Question about weapon choices, need opinions

Last night I acquired and sold a Pseudodragon, giving me enough AD to buy the mats for a Fomorian Fabled Orb or Ancient Court Magister's Orb and offhand. Right now I'm rocking the Gauntlgrym PVP Orb and I think a Shadowsomething offhand.

I'm curious as to what you fine people think would be the best path to take. I could:

- Buy a Riser Fragment and start working on FF Orb.
- Buy Ancient Magister's Orb and offhand and have some AD leftover for the future.
- Stick with what I've got and see if anything new and exciting appears in Valindra's Tower and save my AD for gear for a new toon.

Whatcha think? Assume all my gear and enchants are up to par. Also, my guild is able to run MC, CN, and Valindra's Tower once its out.

Truthfully, I suggest you buy the ancient orb. There's no stat difference between that orb and the FF orb. The ancient talisman has just about 45 less GS than the FF talisman. Overall, it's definitely not worth the several thousand diamonds just for about 45 extra GS.

    Yeap, same here.
I see no real difference from Ancient CN gear vs. Formorian stuff.
Apart from visuals of course...some may claim CN gear is harder to get, some may say the same about Formorian...all the same 4 me.

That's kinda what I was leaning towards. But then I was browsing the forums and saw degraafination's thread about dueling, and in his screenshot, his FF Orb has dmg listed as 686 - 838, versus maxing at 820. Is that a bug or an old screenshot or something?

But anyways, I think Im going to go the Ancient CN route, as it will save me a nice chunk of change.

No, it's neither a bug nor an old screenshot. The Fabled Fomorian Orb does more damage than the Ancient Court Magister's Orb. The numbers are correct.

Does weapon damage have a significant effect on spell damage? I already jumped on the Gateway and picked up an Ancient Court Magister's set, but I'm still curious.

Making your own weapon using the fragments is a fool's errand on so many levels: (1) the crafting tools necessary, while relatively cheap as far as tools go, are an expense for this weapon that no other weapon has; (2) the drop rates for the fragments are ridiculously low, meaning that they are absurdly expensive (the riser fragment alone costs more than the ancient set orb AND talisman) or that you have to grind the dungeon *continuously* in order to get the fragments; and then (3) if you actually do make the orb, it isn't really all that much better than the Ancient orb.

So yeah go ahead and craft it if you want, but I wouldn't make it a priority.

you can always just do a bunch of MC, and get the offhand and mainhand (not the formorian set of coz) for free, the orb is same stats as the ancient one just without the +450 recovery stats bonus

The fomorian orb should only be crafted as a luxury item when you have everything else in place and the AD is so abundant you have not much else to do with it.
