The Beholder? Only the two illusionists at the trade house did that one. It's the second boss in the Aberrant Assault skirmish and one of the Castle Never bosses.

Shadow Wolf is bound? all that effort for nothing, I don't even need that mount I was gunna save it for in the future when the value goes up then sell it, just like the orc wolf companion there are only a few on the market and value going up but i'm still saving it.

All that work for a bound shadow wolf. Fail cryptic studios. actions like that i what drives players away from this game.

I'm sorry to hear that things didn't pan out like you wanted. The only other CTAs we've had didn't include a mount - just companions which were BoE. Now that we have one that gives a chance ta a mount, we should expect future CTA mounts to be BoP...

Im actually having fun with it still, exploring all the odd party combinations.

So far the most fun ive had yet was, surprisingly, playing my Cleric. Found myself in a group with 3 GWFs and another cleric. Those were some very happy GWFs they just bunched everything up, stood in the red, and sucked it all up with nary a worry. Cleaving away like a pack of mad happy lumberjacks.

I managed to top out over 1mill in healing on that fight alone. :p

I was in one group where I was one of THREE clerics. At first, I thought we'd take forever but all our debuffs and whooshy light strikes made quite short work of the match. Also, laying down blue and yellow seals with judicious overlap makes for serious fun.

I've had several runs with my cleric where I wasn't the only one. I ended up switching out Astral Shield with Forgemasters as it works better against the werewolves. Those were pretty smooth runs. When my CW ran with three others were easily the smoothest though. That was when skirmishes were running, so I guess people were using wizards trying to get more runs in. I think I got five, despite getting the return to instance bug one time.

Heh, LOL. The very next group I went through with after reading this was me (a CW) and the rest were clerics.

I tried healing a group with my 27 dc, if i remember all were 60, heals do not scale up i couldnt do more than slightly slow down their deaths, and there was plenty of those :( , im still amazed i didnt get swamped with angry tells, but as i think i said earlier, i stopped queueing on dc, that just wasnt fun for me and im pretty sure those guys werent all smiles after that run either.

Bah, dont be so sure they were all that upset. Most runs its rare to even get a cleric, of any level. And even low level heals are better then none at all. So no reason to be hard on yourself.

Honestly, id rather group with a low level cleric that is truly trying. Over a 12+ GS CW who feels playing mob ping pong with repel, shield blast, and ice storm is fun for the whole group. No matter what class im playing at the moment, when I see one of them purple glowie wizzies in the group. I just have to grit my teeth and know its going to be one of those runs.

I wouldn't worry about it. It won't kill players to use their pots. Plenty of runs there was no cleric at all in my group. And I've yet to be in a run that 'failed'. Queues are pretty much instant (for me at least), if anyone really had a problem with it they'd quit and requeue.

I loved this CTA. The mixes of classes made for quick thinking and finding your role in the fray. As a GWF sometimes it was hold all the agro and DPS the boss and sometimes it was mop adds and keep the CW clean so he didn't feel like ping ponging trash all over the field. Had a pug group that stayed together for 4 runs when I was on my GF. 3 TRs and and a DC. Reminded me of old mmos, as a fighter. Got to hold all the agro and watch as the pack of pirranas shredded them from behind. Best pug I have been in in a long time. All in all I loved this event. Took me the whole event last time to get a ghost pali pet for my two mains. This time I had 3 wolfs drop for each in one day (about 1 every 10 runs). Not that I could keep them. Had to toss out the one in my inventory just to be able to pick up all the items in the chest.

I have been playing since open Beta and this CTA event is just lame with rank 1 and 2 enchants and a green mount that drops at very low rate (see previous posts). The first CTA was great with level 3 enchants dropping and transmutable weapons that look fantastic! I suppose it's good for noobs and low level toons but that's about it, nothing for end game players who have been playing for more than a couple of months.

Rant over.

Flame on.

the most annoying thing in this cta are cws (even lvl 60 ones that should know better) that use ice storm. seriously. ppl are trying to pile the mobs up in one place to have the best effect with area damage and then some moron cw scatters them all around you with ice storm. not only that you can do no more area damage to them, no you now have the mobs in your back and can start dodging around. even if you tell those guys, they just don't get it.

Yeah... A few times now I have found myself in a CTA run with 3 CW's, all of which were using Ice Storm and their shield blasts to bounce the mobs all around the arena, and not one of them using singularity. Makes for an annoying pit fight.

Almost had one run fail because a CW pushed one stormcaller up and into one of the gates. It made the stormcaller untargetable yet it could still attack. The only way we were able to kill it, and move on to the next and final wave. Was for Pushy McKnocksalot to Sing the mob out of the door.

His very next move was to hit it with repel again. Nearly repeating the original problem. The act of face palming was created for moments like this.

If this was your worst moment, then dream about a stormcaller cast his blitz attack and a sing rise up. I was attacking boss and he repel me down. 20% left of me. Okay i can pop unstoppable after im again at my feets. But the AoE way change from afar from me to me because of this sing! 0% down because he cast it against me. -.-*** Nevermind. The funniest is if people die there - GWF don't be exceptions! But what suck: The dyepacks only stack up to 20... This need changed!!!!!! Every dyepack should stack over 999 and not only 20!

Ok..... i'm glad its not just me.....

When i first read, i figured i'd get some armour or something....... didnt think i would try to farm a mount (no offense - i have one ) - i just know the drop rate is prolly 1%..... so i go for the easy leveling...... here's what bothers me:

1. Lag....? I'm tethered to my laptop with 4g ---- I don't lag (prolly will now that i said it)
2. Dye
every....and i mean EVERY chest i've opened? dye.... dye.... more dye....... guess what? more dye.....
3. *IF* dye is the 95% - at least change it up...... my regular armour colour looked better, so i ended up using a dye pack to change the DULLNESS of the CTA dye...... if anything - it should be highlighted so it stands out in a crowd
4. Lack of "pure" originality ---- it's The Pit..... most of us have already been there.... with it being "wave-themed" ---- why not modify it.....? (e.g., traps, sand traps (press F to save), or instead of swarming AI - use a mini-boss)

Really?

Right about now i feel like a horse with a carrot hanging in front of it. What could have been an awesome event has become beyond mundane to say the least. Im not saying make it 95% for mount.......

I'm BEGGING you to please stop the dye-olence.....

A guild member couldn't pick up the 2nd mount she saw in the chest. You can however pick up multiple weapons.

That is exactly what I was afraid of. -heavy sigh-

In general, I'd have to say my impressions on the CTA are positive, like all the other CTAs. It gets boring after a while, grinding for what you want. I have to say though... the DC weapon skin is entirely UNDERwhelming and uh... a wee bit phalic.

I haven't been having what I would think of as lag, in my character glitching around or the game freezing or slowing down. What I have noticed is that when my wizard teleports out of the way of something, like the Stormcaller line attack or the final boss's swing, I reappear about half the distance I should have and then get hit. On all my characters, I've had a weird issue when I get hit by the axe attack. I take the damage, move around as normal for a second and then suddenly just fall to the ground.

I wish there were breaks in combat between the phases, as well. Just long enough to swap out powers or collect loot.

I'd say that it's more like 10% for a mount/weapon drop. I have 4 mounts myself :3

Maybe as low as 5% minimum, but nowhere near the 1% he was saying. It's kind of hard to calculate the stats when you don't have the bigger picture :P. Some people get lucky some people obviously get unlucky and need to try longer. I got like 4 spears on my GF and no mount for example, yet managed to get 1 mount for all of my other toons and weapons for 3 others. I'd assume they had the same chance.

I have had a lot of fun running this CTA. I've only been running it on my GWF and my CW. I had one run where there were 4 CW's and a GF. It was insane and hilarious, but we managed. I don't really care about the loot, since I already have epic mounts and weapon skins are ok, but not needed. I have just been having fun running it. Only had one issue. One time we killed that Undying guy, and well, he really didn't want to die. I guess his invisible ghost didn't want to die. He came back and started killing everyone. It was awesome, but I ended up leaving party because it was badly glitched. Other than that, it's been a blast. :) Time to go play some more!

3-4 CWs can be really smooth runs, if everyone leaves Ice Storm, Repel, Shield Pulse at home and doesn't follow up someone else's singularity with one of their own.

I would be surprised if it was even 5%. But that's not beyond the realm of possibility. There are people that have run this thing over a hundred times without seeing a mount. If the the chance was 5%, then they should have averaged 5 mounts. As you said, luck plays a role. But those number seem kind of off. More than likely the chance for mount is at 1%-3%. But that's just my guess.

Personally I've run it 78 times so far. I've got 10 weapons, but no mount. Hopefully I'll find one later tonight.

My first impression of this is great. I never ran this skirmish when I was leveling. Its fun. And I love the random mix of parties.

My final impression however is a bit more sour. While the skirmish is fun, running it 80 times trying to get the real prize is beyond boring.

*I finally got the mount, on my CW's 90th run.*

One of the worst events ever. 30 runs and only dye so far.

Why not just have the chest drop 1-3 tokens which you can spend on a 50 token wolf at some vendor. No, instead we have RNG and a super frustrating experience.

It's not bad, a definite break from the norm. My only problem is I get the same HAMSTER every time. Always the GrayWolf dye pack except once on my lvl 59 wizard I got a level 1 sword. Not sure what the hell I was supposed to do with that. Also I like that you get in fast instead of waiting for ever.

Just to add to anyone keeping statistics:

-18 runs for mount on my tr, 4 axes
-12 runs for mount on my cw, 2 orbs

Don't give up, it will drop...eventually.
