The most challenging thing for me to do in the ol PnP days was to create and roleplay a multiclass character. Why multiclass? Was it specific to the race? What kind of training did the character have to go through? etc.
Bards were the most challenging in that respect, though I did have fun rhyming a lot for one.
Was wondering (since I'm not all that familiar with anything past 2nd edition rules) where TSR went with multiclass and bard classes and what the chances would be of bringing some of that complex flavor to Neverwinter.

In 4th edition, they handle multiple classes in multiple ways. First was was multiclass features which allowed you to use some powers from another class. Then there was hybrids in the 3rd player's handbook which gave you access to some of the class features of two different classes. Due to feats being completely different in Neverwinter, I don't see how they could translate that into Neverwinter, and I just don't see them doing the hybrid class either.
As for bards, they are perfectly suitable for Neverwinter. They are an arcane leader class, which means they are primarily healers and buffers.
Also D&D has been owned by Wizards of the Coast since before 3rd edition came out so TSR had nothing to do with the direction of the rules for 3rd or 4th edition.
Bards! It would be cool if the Bards had the ability to make monsters fight each other; provocation! This is a skill in Ultima Online and it rocks!
Press the Provoke button select a creature, then click on its' target - 2 monsters begin to fight each other. Do it again, and get multiple monsters fighting, like a giant mosh pit!!
