How important is the damage on our orbs? Ive found that I do relatively little damage in dungeons and PvP. I want to upgrade my main hand. I have 2 choices: one gives me an extra 17 damage, gaining about 80 in stats and losing about 140. The other choice has the same damage, but gives me about 100 extra crit, 100 extra Armp, and 400 Hp while losing 250 power and about 100 deflect and regen each.

I currently have about 3k power and 1200 crit and armp

Any help you can give me is appreciated.

Arp is the best stat. You need to get to 2540 arp for pve so go for the second choice

What does it mean relatively little damage? You should post a pic of your stats or your char from armory than we can discuss.

Don't bother having so much ArP (for now). Our best AoE nukes have 0 benefit from it, see topic in this forum. I'd rather increase Power until ArP gets fixed.

Also what spec are you using? Link that too. And what skills in trash clearing and PvP? You will find out in PvP many people have very high damage resistance and deflect a lot of our spells, so this can be the reason for low damage, but you can't do a lot about it.

This was my first character and I didn't know what I was doing. After hitting 60 and getting bored, I made new ones and have recently started using this one again. I've been doing the lower dungeons with new 60's to learn and experiment, along with doing GG.

In dungeons I'm usually 3rd or 4th in damage dealt. I've been vastly out damaged by CWs with 8K GS. It very well may be that it's because I control first and blow up second. I'm also very unhappy with my Renegade build. I plan to respec when the next module comes out.

I always have Chill Strike(Q) and EF(R) to stop charging mobs. I usually have Shield up, sometimes it's Steal Time or Icy Terrain(E). The other slot (tab) is usually Shards or Icy Rays. I keep Ice Knife and Singularity up at all times, and Use Magic Missile and Ray of Frost.

I don't make many changes for PvP. I do OK in team PvP except when coordinated teams go after the CW first. I can't hold a point the way my TR or GWF can, though. When I'm 1 on 1 with another CW, we exchange the same spells, but while mine whittle them down, theirs crush me.

Renegade is OK. Please read this topic: http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?464811-Versatile-Renegade-build-Feywild

Now... doing lots of damage with this spec requires you to time your big AoE nukes inside big mob packs and during EotS procs. People are still not over singing/bumping, yet this art form is nearly dead, new one is AoE destruction. So shield should go, unless you really need it (CN 2nd/last boss lately since patches, ToS last boss etc.). Use Chill Strike on Tab (to make it AoE) or not at all. Then: Shard, Sudden Storm, Steal Time. Oppressive Force during EotS when lots of mobs are near. Sing only to bring mobs together for easier AoE, but don't overdo it :) Shard on Tab, only for PvP. EF only on Tab, and only when you need to generate lots of AP, otherwise Chill Strike.

Also I see you have Severe Reaction. That is a PvP feat which is useless in PvE.

Also you will get outdpsed by CWs with an augment such as stone/cat, if you don't have it, it's very powerful.

You can use this for linking specs in the future: http://nwcalc.com/cw

For now, best thing you can do is switch for full AoE during 99% of PvE and follow Grimah's guide. Only go single target when boss fight requires it (FH for example). A usual ST rotation is:

Tab Icy Rays, but now after patch RoE is maybe better, dunno, have great results with both.
Shard (replace with Repel if fight requires you to be full ST)
    RoE/Icy Rays
    Chill Strike

As for gear upgrades, first buy an augment, then the next stop should be farming a t2 set, either HV or SW (since most CWs have HV already), Ancient jewelry/weapons, Pyrotechnic rings, gemmed epic underwear. All of this you should find on Grimah's guide that I've linked here.

Thank you. There is much there I didn't know. I mostly pop my shield to hit small mobs that swarm me like imps in FC. It was of little use in DKC.

What I'd still like to know is whether that 17 damage upgrade is worth losing any stats. I'm not sure how damage is calculated and in no other game I've played has the damage on a wizards weapon made any difference to his spell damage.

You don't need to lose stats. Your next (easy) orb upgrade should be the item from GG coins. Very good stats and easy to get.

After this, you will need the Ancient set from CN. Stats are not that amazing, but 2 pieces offer +450 recovery, so you will be able to enchant more of the other stuff in your gear (I'd go for Power or Crit (up to 2000 or so) until ArP gets fixed for our AoE nukes such as Shard and Sudden Storm).

There's another set from MC marginally better than Ancients. I wouldn't bother with it only after you have everything else in place.

I would also get a Vorpal weapon enchantment for when you get the Ancient set. It will cost you 16 Vorpal shards (which you should collect in time from T2 runs) and 5 Coalescents. Vorpal works best for Renegades with its crit severity increase.

Thank you. The GG Orb was one of my choices.
