A Tale of Two Premades (with props to EoA and apologies to C. Dickens)

It was the best of PvP...It was the worst of PvP....

I thought I'd just take a minute to relate my experience in PvP today, because it basically encapsualted the whole spectrum that we read about here on the forums. Let me state right up front, I don't consider myself good at all. In fact, I'm probably in the bottom quintile when it comes to experience/skill. So, this is not me criticizing anyone's play, choices, etc. Just relating a story.

Anyway, I was in two pugs. In the first, we head out and within thirty seconds (literally...and I know what the word literally means), one of my teammates tells the party, "They have two healers. No point fighting. I'm gone." And *poof*....away they went. Needless to say, it left me chagrined as there was a whole match to be played. Well, it went down hill from there. We lodst the second point and two more team members dropped within two minutes. So, now it's a 2v5 (and props to the TR who stuck it out with my stupid GF) and we are getting beaten like a pair of eggs before an Amish breakfast. Naturally, I ask if anyone wants to 1 v 1 (I didn't want to be presumptiuous and ask for cap swaps) and the answer came in the form of a mass ganking that would have left the Hell's Angels shaking their heads. I though, "Maybe they didn't see my message." Went down again..asked...got diced up like a cucumber under a ginsu. Well...me and that TR stuck it out to the bitter end...beating after beating. At that point, I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of making me spawn camp. I know...whatever I gotta tell myself to sleep at night. So, the match ends, I get nothing and that's that.

I requeue and immediately get into another match. Brand new pug team. I head for 2, happy with the fresh start when...what comes around the Rivenscar corner?.....multiple opponents emblazoned with the EoA emblem.....

"HAMSTER", I though eloquently, "Here we go again.". Well, the match went how I figured it would. Within a couple of minutes, we're down to 3 v 5, with one of the three sitting in the camp like a stooge. Not figuratively sitting. Literally sitting. But that's where the similarities with the last match ended.

Trace, playing as the uniquely named character "Trace", offered 1 v 1. I said, "Sure.", knowing that my pitiful GF had no shot but wanting to give it a go anyway. Trace was kind enough to quickly hand me my hat twice. So, on a lark, I asked if they minded if I swapped a cap. And, to their credit, they said "Go for it." I did. I got some glory. I got some 1 v 1. It was all good.

So, Trace, thanks to you, Julia, and the other members of that team. Class move and much appreciated by this minor league pugger. Good luck in the rest of your matches and hope to see you guys in the arena again.

For those patient enough to have read this: the bottom line is that in this game, you take the good and the bad. Sometimes, you might run into some cool folks if you stick around.

I've had the same experience with Trace and EoA. Others as well, including but not limited to Antagony most recently.

But your first experience still happens far too often :(

We definitely appreciate the kind words. Thank you, both. Feel free to apply at our website if you'd like to join EoA. The fact that you took the time to write out your experience speaks to me that you're a very mature player, whether PVP, PVE or both. We can run DDs with you to help gear you up, and show you some tips and trick for PVP. We're not Lemonade Stand or The Enemy Team, but we hold our own in PVP, like to play hard, laugh a lot, and work together.

Love to see EoA receive positive feedback, because they deserve it. I joined them through Trace some weeks ago, and they are strict on following the PvP ettiquette posted on their site (pretty much everything that the OP has mentioned).

    Go go EoA!

Yup, EoA is an honorable guild. They even have 1 vs 1 and PvP conduct rules in their forums, I think Trace posted those, wandered around there one day :)

    The guild certainly deserves recognition.

I'm sure alot of their guild is great. However, in a pug today against gods and general premade. We (pug) were holding our own when the rogue in our group from EoA said "sorry can't fight with nabs" and then quit. We proceeded to get rocked. Not very cool, would have been different if the rest of team had left first.

Don't judge an entire guild because one single member action. im sure if you tell their leaders who the person was, they will approach the guy to fix it.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Overall, that is not how we operate.

Contact an officer and they will get to the bottom of it.

Our guild is over 350 strong characters (not sure how many actual players). So yes, it's rough keeping track of so many. Please know we make an active effort to toss out the bad apples. All in all, our guild has some solid, consistent players who love to play hard.
