(1) Grand Regent set bonus does not work with Reckless Attacker feat from the Conquerer path.
The Conquerer feat - Reckless Attacker: 100% of your Power stat when your block meter is full.
Grand Regent 4-set bonus: You increase your Power by 20% of your defense.
However, this feat does not included the power bonus from the Grand Regent set. EG: With 3319 defense from the full 4-set, I get 664, which is indeed 20% of my overall defense. However, with the Conquerer feat, I should have 1328 as it is supposed to increase my Power stat by 100% when my block meter is full.
(2) Duplicate entry for Grand Regent's Armor in tool-tip.
The mouse-over tool-tip for Grand Regent armor, under the "Part of set" shows 6 armor pieces, with the "Grand Regent's Armor" having 2 entries. Are there really 2 different "Grand Regent's Armor" or is it just a tool-tip bug?
It would be great if anyone could clarify if the above issues are working as intended based on unspecified logic not explained in-game, or lack of proper information that certain feats do not apply to 4-set armor bonuses, or are actual bugs. Thank you.
However, Reckless Attacker, as a feat that buffs stat ratings, only impacts stat ratings on gear (Items) that you wear. 2pc set stat ratings are counted as gear, so they are included. Since the following are Buffs and not just stats to your character, they are not included:
- 4pc set bonuses
- augment companion stat ratings
- Eldritch Runestone companion stat ratings
- explicit (portrait) buffs.
In other words, feats can never buff your Buffs! The reason is pretty obvious. It enables the game developers to hand out any sets or tweak feats however much they like without worrying about massive synergy spikes combining some spec with some gear.
For example, the old Stalwarts set was able to provide 7,500+ extra Power and was considered the best set in the game due to the combination of such strong offensive and defensive capability. If Reckless Attacker had worked with the 4pc of Stalwarts, that's 15,000+ bonus Power, which is ludicrous!
Thanks for the reply. Sadly this only makes me wonder more about this issue ...
(1) The reason that "feats can never buff your Buffs" is pretty obvious? Apologies, I lack the mindset of a game developer or balancer. Why should this be obvious, especially to a new player?
- Some feats that do stack with buffs, such as the "Weapon Mastery" fit which grants 1/2/3% greater chance to land a critical hit that stacks with the "Corn Chowder" buff from the Squash-soup that grants an additional 3% critical chance.
- I am not able to find any in-game instructions or tool-tips in the Feats (be it Heroic feats or Paragon feats) screen that in-game that explicitly states that feats do not buff any existing buffs.
- No where in-game does it also state that the Grand Regent power bonus is a buff, rather than a flat-out gear stat increase.
I'm sorry, but the lack of information in-game makes me feel that this is not working as intended, and will be my opinion until a developer says otherwise. Not to mention the fact that certain feats do stack with buffs, such as the "Corn Chowder" buff. Also I don't see how much worrying about future tweaks and synergy, or coding difficulty of the game engine should be the concern of the customer, sorry.
(2) Based on what I've seen in-game about buffs, I can only assume the Grand Regent 4-set bonus isn't exactly a buff mechanic as it lacks an "icon" under the character portrait. Some other 4-set bonuses do provide such a "buff icon" under the character portrait, why does the Grand Regent not do so, if it is indeed a buff?
Also, shouldn't the developers add a simple "Does not apply to buffs" text in the Reckless Attacker tool-tip, if what you mention was their original intention? That would certainly clear up misunderstandings or misinterpretations like the one I have about the Grand Regent armor set bonus working together with the Reckless Attacker feat.
1. Perhaps I should have been clearer and I've edited my post to reflect it. When I say "stats" I meant "stat ratings" (e.g. Critical Strike is a stat rating for the Critical Chance underlying stat), not the underlying stats which of course stack with everything.
2. All 4pc bonuses are effectively buffs, even if they include a stat rating. They certainly never count towards "Items" on your own Character Sheet, which is all that matters in this case. Buffs in this game do not have to have an explicit buff icon under the portrait. I already gave you a ton in my original list that do not have this property. There are plenty of others too, e.g. from feats or boons. Some buffs do not even appear on your character sheet at all, e.g. Vorpal weapon enhancement (Critical Severity) or Foresight of Clerics (Damage Resistance).
Tooltips in this game are rarely explicit and it is up to players to discover their full details. Developers almost never clarify the meanings and when they do it is almost always because something is broken or missing. This is clearly not the case here since no other set in the game works the way you seem to expect.
If you are expecting a moderator or designer to step in and say one or way or the other about this specific set... well, good luck!
