if my epic ioun stone serves for a guide...it gives you 35 more points per stat, so in a cat, that gives you only 2 stats, i guess it will give you 50 points extra per stat, and a new skin!

There comes a point, when you have BiS gear and full rank 8s or higher, that upgrading your stone or cat becomes the cheapest option to upgrade your stats.
Only then should you consider it.

Can you please tell me what I get for the 300K since it isn't worth it?
While the cat is 1/2 the price to upgrade compared to an Ioun from 25 to 30 (750k AD), it just doesn't seem worth it for +25pts./stat when you could apply that towards savings for any number of things: Rank 8/9's, Greater/Perfect Enchant or any number of other things.
If you have EVERYTHING else (i.e. 15k+ GS due to high lvl enchants on T2 equipment), sure... for most people with limited resources it is just not worth it. I went Ioun personally, but I see no reason to upgrade it for 4% stat increase.

Unless you're a total PVE junkie who's personal desire is to top the charts at the end of DDs, it really isn't worth it.

In real world money, it currently costs 8.13 to upgrade from white to green, 14.30 to upgrade from green to blue and 19.13 to upgrade from blue to purple. That's more than $40, which is added to what the pet itself costs. Even if you pay $20-25 to buy a blue pet from the marketplace you pay almost $20 for a whole 4% rating increase.
In my opinion, you should reverse the costs. 19.13 to upgrade from white to purple, 14.30 to upgrade from green to purple, and 8.13 to upgrade from blue to purple. Notice there is no more tiered jumps. A lot more people would do it than what hopefully are now.
The pet will hardly survive beyond what the blue one, will do slightly better damage, and that is giving the benefit of the doubt to the word slightly. For that kind of money, for one aspect of the game, I can buy a totally different game that is real and I can hold the cartridge or disk in my hand. If you add in the cost to upgrade mounts, disenchant items, fuse enchants, the game is literally the most expensive game I have ever played....ever!
Of course, some people would say I don't have to do it to enjoy or play the game, and they may be right. But a company that purposefully creates content that can be accessed by everyone but they cost it so that it is never actually used by the majority of the player base is losing money for their investors.

Makes even less sense to pay the exorbitant cost of upgrading a Cat compared to any other augment class pet due to diminishing returns on the two stats. That is, unlike Ioun Stone of Allure or Ioun Stone of Might, Cat has no Power stat.
Anyway, I expect the "4%" upgrade is either +45 per stat or +50 per stat for a total upgrade of 90-100 points. That's paying at best 7.5k AD per point, which is more expensive than a rank 7 enchant upgrade. You could buy almost 5x R7 Dark's outright from the AH for that price.

Don't do it! You're just lubing yourself for PW to slam home another money shot...
