Sent myself in-game mail & it vanished

I crafted some items and wanted to send them to one of my other characters. I double checked the handle to make sure it was mine, attached the items, hit send and... it vanished. The icon is glowing saying I have new mail but there is nothing there for any of my characters to see even though the icon glows for all of them and says I have new mail. Where did my stuff go and why aren't they showing up in my inbox? Is this a new bug of some sort?
This happened twice today. I first sent through some equipment for my DC (an amulet and a ring) and it disappeared. I sent through some health potions to my lowly GWF and that went through fine. Then I tried to send through some equipment for my GWF (armour, boots and a weapon) and that vanished. Both emails were sent by my level 60 CW if that makes any difference.
Given that this happened twice today withing about an hour of each incident, I'm leery of testing this out again by sending something else to myself and loosing that too. Has anyone else experienced this?
