Dear fellow CW's,

Since respeccing costs me hard earmed euro's and there's no such thing as cookie cutter builds in NW i'm asking you for your opinion on my spec.

The spec will be used for pve, T2 and up, and solo content, it is my interpretation of Grimah's wizard guide,
dps spells will be used similar to his setup although i still have some doubts on ice ray...

If any of you would be so kind to take the time and look into it, before i spend cash on a respec, i'd be most grateful.

Link to specc: http://nwcalc.com/cw?b=mwv:4zgss:70tv,13h30nc:60000:b0000:bz551&h=1
Link to Grimah's comprehensive wizard guide: http://mmominds.com/2013/08/30/grimahs-comprehensive-wizard-guide/

Lots of thanks to Grimah for putting the work in that guide, as a new player it has been quite a help in being able to put a spec together and get some insight in the class.

Take two points out of Orb of Imposition and put them into Ray of Frost. You do not want to miss out on RoF for even the most casual of PvP.

Take as many points out of Arcane Presence as you can and put them anywhere else. At least one point in Storm Pillar for out of combat AP regen is handy.

Focussed Wizardry gives greater gains than Wizard's Wrath for the same effect (external calculator spell descriptions are wrong, i.e. the game tooltip is right). Put full points there.

Remove the two points in Prestidigitation and put them into Wizard's Wrath.

Since this is a general/PvE build, take points out of Reaper's Touch (in a Renegade build, you will rarely be hitting anything with At-Wills at 15ft - yes the tooltip is wrong - which is basically melee range) and put them into Malevolent Surge. A CW is always the highest Kills in a dungeon, almost without trying, and the buff may seem small and short-lasting, but it does exist and you do notice it when you do not have the feat.

You can test respecs on the Preview shard for free.

Why putting points into Wizard's Wrath after maximizing Focused Wizardry?

    Because they stack...

Why would you turn down 4% extra damage on all your key spells in PvE? Personally, I would go even further and take a point out of Fight On and into Wizard's Wrath to max it to 6% for a total of 15% extra aoe damage.

If you mean, why not Prestidigitation, because that scales badly with gearing, ultimately buffing only your Power by 2% (in this build) due to diminishing returns or soft caps on all other stats.

    Hi,

thank you for the quick response, i've taken your comments in consideration and found them indeed to be pretty valid, here's a link to the new build : http://nwcalc.com/cw?b=p9b:4yrik:9tyr,13g30n3:60000:bu000:b5551&h=1

It does seem to make allot of sense so i changed everything to what you said.

Looks good. A point in Maelstrom of Chaos daily for the CC to help in Malabog Castle endboss encounter versus Valindra would be handy, i.e. take it from Storm Pillar. But since the endboss is not often run and when it is run it is often exploited in pug groups, it is not necessary.

Try it for yourself on Preview. You do not even need to check your logs, look at your spell tooltips.

But if there is no official confirmation, it might be a bug and might be "fixed" in the future.

What the heck is that meant to mean? Why would it NOT stack when everything else does? It has also always been that way, i.e. since beta for months...

Also, since when is there ever official confirmation of anything to do with gameplay exploration and design rather than content? Devs can change their mind at any time for anything (and they often do) even if they did confirm something one way or the other.

I recommend you play the game as it is and stop wasting yours and everyone else's time with random speculation.

Maelstrom of Chaos works on her? That's a neat piece of info.
