Got him on lvl 20 and i dont know why i even want to use him cause:
-they hit rarely...
-dont draw attention from even one mob...
I miss something or cryptic start to create COMPLETLY not useful comapnions in any way???

This companion appears to really shine at level 30 more so that at the lower levels. I don't think it's worth 1.25M to upgrade him but it seems that's when he'll be most useful.
However this companion is a Leader. That means he is supposed to buff and heal the party and/or debuff enemies.
The tooltip doesn't say shield bash debuffs enemies but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. Otherwise he is a paladin for all intents and purposes so basically he is a tankier healer. He won't heal as much as the cleric but has the potential to do more damage, survive longer and generate a bit more threat.
That is if the companion is the way I would expect a Paladin to function.
I have seen a few people say he's really useful.
My characters are too strong to really know one way or another. *shrugs*
All in all an Augment is still the only companions I truly consider good at this point in time.
its useful....they will sell for a lot cause they are cool for people rping necromancers. But I wouldn't advise putting ay money into it other than if you just want a ghost following you around.
Someone suggested in a post the ability to make combat pets into non combat pets. where they'd just become an augment. this would be a great example of a pet that would benefit from that kind of thing.
There is a lvl 30 power to make you spend an outrageous amount of ADs for a 5s heal with a 30s cooldown, and i'm not sure it's a good purchase.

I am sorry to say this, but, except for the novelty of it, this companion, like many others, is useless. I got one on the third run of this CTA and I am going to keep it because I think it will look nice with my Kelemvorite Cleric, but, just like the Pig Companion before it, it will stay mostly inactive during combat.
I hate dancing with Lady Luck. She always steps on my toes.
