So my evil sorceress/CW gets into a MC run with a group that's still kind of new-ish to it. The group advertised for "HV" equipped casters. The other caster gets into the group after I do. We step in and the other caster starts to ask me if I can pass on the fomorian off-hand if it drops. I reply, "We'll see". We start clearing the outside of the castle. The entire time, the other caster keeps on asking me to pass on the item if it drops.
During the entire outside of the castle, the other caster hardly does anything and just keeps on asking me to pass on the item if it drops (no dailies cast and barely any encounters/spells). I'm not new to solo castering for groups. It's definitely not my first time nor will it be my last. So I'm thinking to myself, 'This person doesn't even deserve the item if it drops. They're doing absolutely nothing!'.
All this keeps on going even through the first boss fight. The other caster hardly doing anything other than to keep on pestering me to pass on the item if it drops.
After the first boss drops, the other caster leaves the group in the middle of a fight. I don't notice initially because I'm doing all the work anyways. The group manages to finish the 2nd boss eventually (I say eventually because it's just the cleric, a barbarian/GWF, knight/GF, and I left with me doing most of the DPS). Now we have the option of continuing onto the 3rd boss. I decline and leave the group politely.
A part of me is glad/happy that Cryptic decided to make these new "endgame" sets BoP. It forces people to actually have to work for their gear. Admittedly, you can still find/run into people who got their junk while still being lazy/useless parts of groups, but they're a LOT more rare.
Oh. To the person who stars in this posting... I wouldn't have passed on the item mostly because of your actions. For one thing, I don't know you at all and I'll probably never see you again. For another, you were soo lazy/useless during that entire run that you didn't deserve it to begin with. Then you go and leave the group rather than start being useful and actually doing something to earn it? If you had stayed and been useful to the group, I would, more than likely, have passed on the item. So you have no one else to blame but yourself in the end. That and guess what item dropped off the 2nd boss and guess who won it and ended up salvaging it for 8k rough ADs?

to the op, i have been in a few pugs lately where i won the greed roll for the boss drop and twice, i had someone in the group asking me to give them the item. i guess it doesn't hurt to ask but you're a trooper for putting up with that continual annoyance. sheesh.
Just had something similar happen during a CTA run. I tried to fit in one more run before the skirmish event ended. Extra AD is always welcome. Sometimes the random folks you get placed with, arnt.
The run was going fairly normal, for a random pug. But even before the first Shock Troop outside. One member of the group was doing nothing. I figured it was lag, and did my job. We kill the Shock Troop and get ready to open the portcullis, and everyone goes on an imp killing spree, expect for this one player. He has moved in closer, but still not engaged. Imps all dead, and gate open we proceed on, and move to the second Shock Troop. I notice the same player has now moved into the portcullis tunnel and is just standing there. By this time, I'm getting fairly annoyed. He is obviously aware enough and able enough to keep moving up with the group.
The most annoying part of it, was the clock was ticking. We only had a little bit of time before the event ended. It normally would of been plenty of time with a full group, but with one player not contributing it was taking longer then needed. By the time we took down the 2nd Trooper and the Summoner and clicked on the shield to summon the 1st Paladin. That one player still had not moved from the tunnel. My annoyance reached it peak. It was then I noticed I was group lead. Without a word, I just kicked him. The group went on to beat the boss. We missed the end of the event by seconds, and lost out on the AD. But I felt better doing it with 4 active players then to reward one lazy moocher.
I've been in groups where people have asked me for items that I win. Most times, if they were semi-useful to the group, I'll give it to them for something small like a few greater ID scrolls or something like that. Most of the items I win end up getting salvaged or chucked into the AH anyways. I like to think of it as, they being useful to the group benefits me directly by being useful to me. So I should give them a little something as payment. Sort of anyways. Lol I'm an evil sorceress, not a stingy one. Besides which, it never hurts to be nice every once in awhile. It keeps people guessing.

I am going to pass on item only if you are useful to me (ie:guild members/friends). Else I'd gladly salvage that 5th offhand 10k rough AD thx.
That's pretty harsh imo. The off hand is worth much much more 10k rough AD. Especially when it can be incredibly hard to get an off hand if you're not lucky. Of course if they rude or playing horribly then I'd probably need it, but otherwise I'd be considerate if I had no use for it other than to salvage it. I've mostly played with guildies only though . Not saying you're necessarily wrong in doing so, it is your decision. But that'd be 5 people let down needing to farm many more MC just for another chance to win, and rng in this game can be a real pain for some. Of course if the other people of the same class already have it, then there's no need to be polite, I'd need then in pugs too, and probably greed in MC unless I wanted the icon for my stone . I do hate beggars though as mentioned in the OP. I hope noone give's beggars anything because otherwise it just encourages them to do so. I have no problem with people that politely ask, but when it gets past that it's a pretty bad trait.
You can't roll on bound gear so why would you salvage something for 10% of what you could get from ah? Does that make sense to anybody?
The off hands are bound on pickup for the one that wins the roll (not sure if it's supposed to be like that or not in this case, but that's how it is) meaning that they can't put it up in the AH. It sucks coz you can't even mail it to another toon >.>
Hmm, never accounted that kind off bum players, I say its a bot or just someone that's dose that trick, to get fast ADs. I guess this should be look at if it starts to get out of hand. I my self have suffer to similar PUG groups and have almost completely gave up un the random group dungeon queues. As some times it breaks halve way and as the difficulty does not tune down it eventually becomes impossible if the group is not gear well or have no proper healer.

Next time just right click and ignore, a leech never has anything useful to say anyway :P
HV fix is coming down the pipeline though! So that annoying "requirement" from some parties will soon dissipate.
or report spam
anyone cries to me about loot that's the fastest way to get on my /ignore list
ok 2nd fastest, besides spamming in /zone
