Leavers are not the real problem

While you can (and should) deter players from leaving PvP matches with a leaving debuff, the leavers are not the real problem.

Even if a penalty sufficient enough to curb most players from leaving out of frustration is implemented, you will still have people leaving matches due to RL, having to do something else in game, or due to disconnects. Additionally, a leaver penalty will just encourage people to stand around in their spawn instead of leaving, which doesn't fix the problem. You can combat that to some extent by aggressively kicking people who stand around in their spawn, but then what?

Let's say someone leaves a match (for whatever reason). Now their group is in a 4v5 and the match becomes even harder for everyone else. This pushes the other players on their team closer to the point where they consider leaving, causing a cascade effect that is hard to stop once the first person leaves the match.

This happens because there is no mechanism for players to be replaced after they leave. As a result of this, not only does the match become increasingly harder and less fun for the group where the players are leaving, the match also becomes increasingly boring and less fun for the team where the players are staying.

That the game does not have a mechanism to replace players who have left a match is an astoundingly poor design choice and is ultimately the real problem here. Fixing this will fix PvP. Everything else is simply a band aid.

I don't want to replace anyone in a PVP match. If they left, then most likely their team was punching bags for the other team.

You are correct that there is no mechanism to replace players.

    Fix:
    1. A ban that is only 14 minute ban from queue if you leave.
    2. Players hiding in spawn are kicked and hit with the leaver penalty.
    3. A working mechanism to replace players who leave.

Tera has this and it works very well. Granted the battleground matches last up to 30 minutes and are not over as quickly as PVP in Neverwinter. A 14 minute ban from queuing is reasonable and will keep constant leavers from leaving 22 matches in a day. <- Yeah a leaver bragged once about leaving 22 matches in a day.

Now, I would reconsider if Neverwinter had bigger and better PVP types instead of domination. Something like capture the flag similar to WoW battle grounds with bigger arenas and a vote kick system with a functioning Q that won't try to replace the missing slot with the same player which sometimes happens for PVE Q's.

    As is, no way Jose

Every class has advantages and disadvantages. Learn the disadvantages of you class to overcome them. Learn the advantages of your class and the disadvatages of other classes to use them in pvp to win.

There is no point to whine for nerfs because you win some and loose some. Crying just makes a player look like a crier and no one, especially the devs, should take them seriously. Have a nice day!:)
