What are dungeon keys for?

I keep seeing keys drop in dungeons, but what are they for? The tooltip only say they unlock various stuff, but not which stuff that is. Everyone seems to ignore them too, so are they just trash? Or are there some secret meaning behind them?

    You mean like in Cragmire Crypts? My guess is that they are leftover from some intended feature that never got completed.

    Spider has a key drop too. We never did figure out what it was for, nor did we figure out if the ship above the second campfire has anything more to it than being pretty.

    Yeah, I mean the keys in Cragmire Crypts and other places, that drop as random loot. Surely they have to be used for something? I mean, if it was just some leftover stuff, why haven't they removed the keys yet? How hard can it be?

    Probably isn't hard at all to remove it from the loot tables. Though it was probably something they forgot about which is why they still drop.

    How can they forget about it when it's been in since launch, and we're now well into module 1?

    Because it is a very minor issue.

    I have noticed in Cragmire Crypt the keys do get used, but when I don't know. I did a Crypt run and had 2 keys at the end, which stayed in my inventory. During my next run I collected 3 more keys, because I was up to 5 when I stopped to use some buff potions. Afterwards when I went to a vendor to sell some of the loot I noticed I only had one left in my inventory. I do not recall seeing anything about keys being used.

    Sort of how the marks drop in castle never but never had an implemented use. They still drop and consume bag space. This has to be one of the laziest companies out there. Except when it comes to releasing zen store items, then they are Johnny on the spot :p
