Levelling is obscenely fast in this game, so it really doesn't matter. Make up a build that works for you, or just use an endgame build. There's nothing in an endgame build that will significantly hinder your progress to 60.
I usually solo with DG/DL/AS nowadays. There aren't many trashmobs that can survive a D'd DG followed by a daunting, even with my fairly crappy gear, and the few stragglers can be mopped up with sacred flame/astral seal.
Levelling up, SB and HW were bar-staples till about 30, with searing light being my actual straight-up 'damage' encounter. HW got swapped for FF once it became available, and then at 50 it was everyone's favourite FF/AS/SB. I never actually used daunting or divine glow till I was 60 (because I'm an idiot). Used the doggy as my companion of choice for most of it.
It's basically very difficult to make your life unworkably hard. You could get to 60 with just the starter skills without too much trouble.
I made my DC 2nd day of open beta and played him up to the profession pack in neverdeath, he was around lvl 26. Then I used the pray and leadership XP method to bring him to 60 a mere 3 months later =P
Guild Master of <Enemy Team>
We are definitely dominating, and we are always about to win.
