I tried alchemy the other day, and so far I've reached lvl 2. But after that... nothing. Am I doing something wrong here? I keep making all sorts of potions and stuff, but I'm not getting any more XP at all. Do I have to create something specific for to get XP, or what? Any help would be much appreciated.
Alchemy is not like any other profession. it is its own animal. You do not get xp by simply making stuff. You will only get XP after completing enough experimentation tasks.
You need to run your experiments, to get new recipes, as well as special items that grant alchemical knowledge. You get enough knowledge you can then preform a research task that earns you all the xp you need to advance to the next level.
You need to focus on making just the items you need to experiment, so that you can do your research to advance. Just be warned, not every experimentation will produce knowledge. You might need to experiment several times to get enough knowledge to advance. At least failures are good for laughs if nothing else. The unstable potions are comedy gold. Running around on a shrunken pony just never gets old.
