Indeed lol. You've misunderstood the whole skill. It directs half of the damage your group takes to you instead of them. So if they all stand in some boss aoe and you have knights valor on, boom they just killed you.
it shouldn't crit tho...its NOT a damage ability....I thought the dam was xferred into threat and not actually directed bak to me my bad...really a def ability that can kill you...doesn't seem right
Lol. You know that the mobs can crit? They have maybe ~6-8% critchance. But if you want a great picture about Knight Valor selfkill:
But i don't know why i got this big impact. Because if anyone was hurt with that huge damage impact he will be dead. But none of my teammates was(you can see it at the left side that noone have a skull like me) and they are all still in combat(so noone died quit and revive at campfire). It was the biggest O.O moment i had in this game.
Only use Knights valor if your party is stupidly awful and even then, you will fail, is a niche resource for very few circumstances (like losing the DC in a dungeon run or a boss battle) into the fray is way better to buff party and indirectly protect it.

Knight Valor is my favorite power... If you block while is it active and your whole party (including yourself) is swamped with adds, it can refill your AP so quickly you can use your daily every 3s... Fighter Recovery is nice to recover hp with Enforced Threat, or other daily if your cleric spams astral shield on you.
Party will love it... My top powers are Knight Valor, Enforced Threat (AoE), and Into the Fray. I almost never change them out.
The problem I have with it, is that the last patch has re-introduced an old bug that freezes its cooldown and it stops working when that happens... (bug report post: link here)

When you have a party full of squishies with no defense, Knight's Valor is awesome, sorry frarii.
I will agree that Enhanced Mark, Threatening Rush, Enforced Threat and the Threat Feat should be ample to get the threat off of your party and on to you in MOST circumstances, but Knight's Valor has its uses:
- In Spell Plague, without rushing to a target (Lunging Strike/Threatening Rush) it is EXTREMELY difficult to mark target mobs when Aboleth is directly across from them as it masks your ability to get target focus. Same goes for CN with Draco. So Knight's Valor (with its large radius) allows you to gain aggro on mobs near the boss or on the boss fighter without having to chase over there constantly.
- In MC it can help get the portal adds on you or take back Fulminorax from your party
- In FH it is pretty useful as well, but I'll take Enforced Threat, Into the Fray and Lunging Strike with threatening rush anyday.
Regardless, I still find Knight's Valor to be useful... Circumstantial, sure... but still useful.

Neat *trick* I know and honestly not 100% related to the original post but try this with Knights Valor:
sorry in a hurry so main points only not written out very well
Combo: KNights Valor, knights Challenge, Fray or iron warrior Supremacy of steel
In PvP, stand back which will confuse the other team, pop supremacy when up, KC a distant CW, Pop Fray or Iron warrior, pop KV, and block
i have seen as many as 4/5 burn themselves without me even having to swing, while my teammates were protected and also dealing damage. Great for CW's and DC's over your head

it takes half damage from your party then the damage will be received by your character
