Premise: Have players enter their crafters into an arena to compete against other players. It is entirely a dice roll mini game and non interactive. The crafters would be from the Leadership profession but a new profession, something like 'Gladiators' would work too. And hello new time sink
The idea is simple. You can enter a footman/mercenary/etc into an arena, tool him up as best you can, then check back several hours later to see if you've won. Perhaps have an AD entry fee.
The player *cannot* choose who they fight. No game fixing please
However, if you're entering a rank 1 crafter, you only fight other rank 1 crafters, rank 2 vs rank 2, and so on.
The catch: The winning player takes an item, the loser's AD entrey fee, or perhaps even the footman/merc/etc itself.
Give each winner a small chance for their goon to be upgraded in quality. The loser gets a chance to die and they lose the crafter.
Level up your gladiators/leadership goons exactly as before, but with the option to throw them into combat against other players.
You could include the ability to choose a style of play beforehand so that there's an element of tactical chance. Play defensively, play agressively, play neutral. A gladatorial paper, scissors, stone.
