Error: Unable to initialize on demand patching...

Upon downloading today's patch, I receive the following error message after pressing "play" and crashing at the "Cryptic" screen:

"Fatal Error: unable to initialize on-demand patching and connecting to patch server: The connection was idle for too long."

This appears to have solved the issue for me:

I cleared the application rules in my firewall (BitDefender Total 2013) and recreated a new one for the application from scratch.
