inferiority complex

okay, prior to the big update, my TR was usually the highest DPS in our dungeon runs. Now, our CW smoked my damage in the last icepeak epic run. We are explaining this away by the fact that he is nailing many mobs using AoE versus my single boss damage but I'm not sure I'm buying this and am worried I have somehow crippled my TR. Is this normal in dungeon runs versus 1-1 damage output?

We are starting to think that we should put our CW on the boss given what the stats say they are doing from damage since controlling is useless versus taunt and run in icepeak as the golems are immune to control anyway. It just seems that the mechanic of tank/rogue on boss, fighter/CW on adds isn't making sense.

We finished the dungeon but aren't happy with how messy it was.

Just looking for a sanity test on these damage numbers (I think I was at 12M and the CW was at 22M!) The CW is definately better geared but not THAT much. Mind you he has that little badger who just won't die as well :-)

Were you knocking a lot of monsters off cliffs? That tends to hugely favour the CW.

Also, a lot of fights in FH are "OH GOD TEH INFINITE ADDS" fights, which can (depending on how long they take) start hugely favouring AoE damage dealers over single-target DDs. You might be putting out a little less damage, post patch, so bosses take a little longer, so the CW gets a little bit more time to deal silly damage to huge crowds of monsters.

FH heavily favors cw. But really there are so many variables that the dps charts are for epeen's only pretty much.
Are you using impossible to catch on final boss? Use this during his ice aoe(many small circles) and you dont need to dodge so much, which drastically decrease your dps. Plus u need the cw on archers.

huh. that would be a good idea. I don't uisually use it as I can dodge, throw my 8 daggers and then get back in which I thought was okay to keep DPS going....

well if you are using true DnD stats to make that point, then its curious they are called 'control' wizards as I would always assume they are there for crowd control and not mega-death. Doesn't really matter to me who ends up with best DPS, it is just confusing how to arrange tactics given now our tank wants to DPS due to lack of value tanking and control wizard wants to high DPS instead of lining mobs up to be mowed down by others.

also use wicked reminder... not only does it debuff boss increasing your (and everyone else) damage, it builds your AP faster because of its short cooldown.
3rd skill is up to you... shadow strike is good for the extra stealth damage (and easier to build wicked reminder stacks), deft strike will port you behind the boss, so you could use this when he cleaves instead of dodging, etc

cw can do massive damage, its just that many are only singularity spambots and dont fully understand that a dead mob is a controlled mob

With the right spec, gear and ability use (i.e. not wasting Tab for EF for AP gen etc.), CWs can do lots of damage, even single target (although it gets even better for AoE obviously). However, few are interested in us doing large amounts of dps, instead we are needed to stun mobs and push them off cliffs and edges. You deal decent damage as a sing bot too, but meh... concentrating on dps, with some control, yields best results on that lame "Most damage dealt" chart. I wish this game would have addons such as Recount so we would be able to dissect encounters and get more theorycrafting going.
