Lightning weapon enchant generate AP?

I'm interested in getting a lightning weapon enchant on my GF for the sole purpose of generating AP. Does anyone know if the lightning chain hits generate AP? I can't seem to find info on this anywhere, and the cost of testing is significantly prohibitive. Any help would be appreciated.

    I've used Greater & Perfect Lightning and was unimpressed by the damage increase and I didn't notice a AP gain. It is nice for grabbing extra ADDs for boss fights but Vorpal, Plague Fire or Life Drinker are all better enchants.
