WeaponSmithing

Is it possible to take a weapon found long ago and upgrade it?

Back as a lowly TR I found a "Mancleaver", the only TR weapon I've ever found that wasn't some type of Dagger etc.

Less than 100 attack, but I kept it even now that I'm L 60.

The "WeaponSmithing" is new and I don't know all it's capable of doing.

Anyone know if this type of pre-owned weapon is upgradable?

Technically speaking, you can do that at any time provided you have the item still using the Change Appearance feature on an exisiting weapon. This moves the appearance from one item to another (so you could, for example, put the Mancleaver's appearance on an end-game dagger).

The problem at present is that it currently costs a lot of AD to do this. Still, it is an option (and one that hopefully they reduce the cost for in the future, because it's frankly ridiculous).

AFAIK Weaponsmithing is just for creating new weapons that potentially have different skins then normally available (for similar purposes, as I can't imagine too many people actually benefit from any of the current crafting professions while levelling).

EDIT: The last I saw was it costing ~60,000AD per change at end-game, which is patently ridiculous. I think they may have reduced the price by ~10-15% with the new patch, but that's still pretty crazy.

I feel like they could get their money's worth out of cosmetic / optional changes if each one (e.g. transmuting, upgrading companions and mounts, etc.) cost much less. Which would you be more likely to do: one nonessential change that's 60,000 AD, or lots that add up to 75,000 AD? I dunno, for me if one thing costs a ton I'll never do it at all, but if a lot of things cost a little I'm likely to do them all over time.

the prices of transmuting needs to be drastically reduced, and the restriction on only transmuting class specific items and non class specific needs to be abolished.

It used to be 60K to transmute a lvl 60 item... now it's around 51K (they did reduce it by around 15%). IMHO it's still too much... I think they need to reduce it by 25% at least (reducing the cost to 45K which is more acceptable).

Considering that a DC can preview and dye a CW's robes (I've done this before), that would only make sense.
