No new classes?

Really Cryptic? No new classes just 2 races and a bunch of nerfs to balance the ONLY 4 classes in the game... why bother? you know when you add any new classes into the game your going to have to redo the balance all over again and again for every one you add it would be better to leave it unbalanced, add all the classes, THEN worry about balancing the game so that you don't have to redo the work over and over again pissing off everyone in the game each time you "rebalance" it.

get wise... make all the classes first, then balance... you don't build a house from the roof down so why would you build a game from the finishing touches to the adding content?

you have 8 more classes that are in D&D thats not in this game yet 4 of them are core classess... game has been out for 2 months, in beta for 8 months, and in development for more than 2 years and those 4 core classes aren't even in development. Your in for a world of hurt when Elder Scrolls Online and the other hype games come out no one is going to stay in a game where there is only 4 classes to play with games that have such a huge choice of playstyles come out.

stop the pvp balance wars and get to work making a dungeon adventure game like this was meant to be... don't try to draw the pvp crowd they may be good for short burst of cash but they get bored easily and move to the next game that offers better pvp and there are a bunch of them on the way next year and after they leave all you have is us PvE crowd which demand choice and FUN.

Want to make a lot of money... stop thinking like a business man and start thinking like a gamer. Making a bland game thats full of nothing but kids that like to kill each other just so they can either brag or whine isn't a big draw.

    They've said multiple times, in multiple places, that they want to have the new class out by the end of the year. They stated a number of times that it wouldn't be releasing in this update, as early as two months ago (and repeatedly since then, up to and including today).

    I'm not sure what people expect, frankly. It's not like this information was hard to come by.

    There's 5 classes, but tbh id rather they fix stability and balance before throwing in another class, new races keep it fresh and the game is still very very young......

    Having more classes than necessary to fill all the roles just creates balance problems. Your DM can easily adjust the adventure to suit the players in a tabletop game, but this is an online game.

    There's 5 classes, but tbh id rather they fix stability and balance before throwing in another class, new races keep it fresh and the game is still very very young......

    I agree the game will be a lot better with balanced classes and new ones later

    The problem is that balancing the classes is pretty much a fundamental impossibility. A class like the TR that is meant to do as much damage as possible to a single, tough target HAS TO be better in PvP than a class like the CW that is meant to do crowd control, for example. If all the classes are balanced, meaning equally good at killing bosses and thus other characters, there would be no point to having classes at all. The only way to balance PvP without totally <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> up PvE would be to make powers work totally different in PvP.

    you mean like paladins and druids in wow? whats point in any other class?...they are almost as good as the purpose classes [priest/warrior]

    I play an nwn1 mod that has 20+ classes and is probably the most well-balanced multiplayer game I have ever played and I have played pretty much every mmorpg since wow. Two big differences between that and this is that nwn1 mod allows for a party of 10 players, and the mobs are larger, more varied in their powers. It is a harder game. Granted, there are roughly 10 BASE classes from which the rest variate wildly.

    To keep class balance with a ton of classes means that specialized versions of each class can perform the same role as a specialized version of a different class. An example (from that game) would mean that a high dps tank (Monk Staff Master or Barbarian) can do the same damage as a high dps caster (Damage Sorc, or Damage Wizard). Another example is crowd control which is HUGE when you are dealing with massive amounts of mobs, a cc caster would be a druid, while a cc tank would be a weapon master with super-high ab/disarming ability. Btw, one way to deal with massive mobs in a game without overpowering any tank class is to put more emphasis on cc powers across the board.

    That kind variety across all classes puts more of the emphasis on strong character-building and skilled tactical performance; knowing how to build and how to play your character to best accomplish its intended purpose.

    It makes for a more complex game which requires......more dev time. It IS possible, and it IS highly desirable in a game but it is ultimately more expensive.

    Why do it? Simply because it is more fun. Learning how to best build and play a variety of classes that do the same things in different ways really extends the life of the game.
