The game URGENTLY needs PvE Crowd control!

Right now we all know of the massive number of adds, and many us will of seen the upcoming changes.

Real problem with the game right now is poor crowd control abilites, people have learned to Arcane Singularity spam because in truth its the only real decent crowd control power, it not that the power is too good, it more because everyone else powers are too poor, and future changes is going to nerf a lot of people dps, and make crowd control harder!

Suggestions:

1: Hard part is balancing PvE and PvP, so first thing we need to think about it splitting effect differently for PvE/PvP

By this I mean drasically increased duration of existing crowd control effect in PvE only!

eg a PvE stun might last 3-4 seconds, but in PvP it may only last 1 second.... this will give the power utility in PvE without making it overpowered in PvP.

.

2: Change knockback mechanic's

Knockbacks in most cases can cripple a group by scattering them, making AoE impossible... 2 thing can be changed that will make knockbacks more viable, and will reduce the ability to knock mobs off ledges. Which maybe considered a viable tactic perhaps, but in reality takes away lot of the skill from the game, and forces dependence on certain classes.

Forward Knockbacks...

... Rather than throw mobs at high velocity away from you, instead push all mobs back upto a certain distance from the player, but not excessivly far, what this will mean is mob will no longer scatter in fron of you, but rather be push back a certain distance AND it will essential bunch mobs together making them easier to AoE.

Circular Knockback...

... Rather than throwing hostiles backwards in all direction, instead throw them directly upwards and airborn for a second or 2, when they drop back down they will be in approximately the same place they was before, and you given the whole group a few second breathing time, plus they wont have to run around chasing the mobs.

.

3: Great Weapon Fighter

Great Weapon Fighter has a ability called 'Come and Get it' in theroy based on description it should work in silamar manner to the popular Arcane Singularity, sadly this is not the case, making this ability more effective will increase viabilty of GWF and gives more freedom for group to no be forced to run group of CW

.

4: Guardian Fighter

Guardian Fighter are pretty good right now in term of balance, but I do feel maybe Enforced Threat should have slightly bigger Radius, and maybe Iron Warrior/Into the Fray could also generate some AoE aggro, and if the croud control power duration was increased they definately be much more tanky as they are intended to be.

1 - arcane singularity is one of the worst control power in itself. It's an awesome tool to move foes, but the stun lasts less than 2s.

2 - arcane singularity is mainly used to push mobs off edges. I guess reducing that is the purpose of this change. People may also want an aoe dps and a tank now.

3 - icy terrain & steal time are by far the best control powers in game.

4 - chill is an extremely powerful class feature, you should learn to use it. Singularity is lazy.

5 - if you're still super lazy, you can use entrangling force on tab, and ta-dah, most of the daily bar is full.

So, thank you for showing your ignorance of the mechanics of the CW class. My tips are free of charge, feel free to try it.

Actually my current setup is Conduit Mastery, Icy Terrain, Steal Time, Chilling Cloud, Shield, Arcane Singularity to pull all the mobs into my AoE.

And Singularty best use is to stack enermies for AoE DPS.

Don't assume people don't know what they doing.

The fact is, they too much dependance on CW so much so most group dont want other classes and would rather have multiple CW

Reminds me of people saying "now we'll have to run dungeons with two clerics, with the astral shield nerf" a few weeks ago. Do you often see 2 DCs parties now?

The best solution to your issues is the team learning not to scatter mobs all around the room. If they can do that control is fairly easy to achieve without singularity. You barely need it anymore. I'm currently using it mostly for DPS purposes, chaining singularity and shield is absolutely awesome damage-wise.

Your actually de-railing a entire topic to make it about Singularity when its nothing to do with Singularity, it to do with other classes' Utility Crowd Control Skills.
