Confirmed. That's what I get for trusting out-of-date hearsay. Apologies.
Looks like Critical Power isn't giving out per-tick bonuses for Conduit of Ice either. At least not as of now, on the Preview Shard.
they are classed as DoTs now, so the damage together counts as one spell (if it crits it all crits etc). weapon procs and such work a bit differently though.
Also my advise is, since you are a new wizard, i wouldnt worry about focusing on damage too much right now, gear up and learn the best methods to deal with things. You have a choice how much damage you want to do, whether to put yourself at risk or not. Find out what works best for you.
I personally prefer to use entangle on tab most situations being the lone wizard or a group without a tank. Damage doesnt change the outcome of a fight. (apart from in spider), but then again each person plays their own way, i wont ignore taking a class or spec to a dungeon because "its not optimal". Focus on doing things smoothly first before you start pushing your limits.
I agree, that all builds are making for endgame dungeons or PvP. Engame in next patch is Malabog. Last boss - single target fight. Most of trash are high health mobs that immune to CC with a little amount of minions.
from what i read, CN is still end-game (in terms of item value/stats). malabog looks like another T2.

Right, but about a month ago someone said she'd tested it, and found that because DoT powers crit on all ticks, you could get multiple AP chunks (via the Critical Power feat) from each crit on those powers, even against a single target. Based on my testing today, that is no longer true, if it ever was true.
For my part, I haven't used Critical Power on live at all.
wierd i never noticed such a thing before :P oh well. Would be nice if cryptic included everything in their patch notes.
edit: oh and about critical power and EF tab. aoe things. its been like that since i can remember, its detailed in my guide, and the reason why i tell CWs its probably the most game-changing feat to take (since i think reaper's touch is pretty bad)
If they add setbonus to new weapons - than Malabog will be endgame. And dungeon is pretty difficult for simple t2...
I hope they do too, but nearly all the stats those sets give at identical. they need to revise the whole thing.... (which i doubt because its not very far away)
or maybe they will fix the add bugging on draco. that would be nice, it would change the state of prices for a while atleast, and make things a bit more challenging again.
When you apply shield, you hit yourself for 0 damage. This damage can crit and apply on-hit effects, like nightmare wizardry (recently fixed) and critical action.
