Using the foundry to turn a 25 year old mud into a graphical world. Here is our first quest of many. There is actually a story! Let us know what you think. Need 5 reviews to get it going..
Started your quest this evening and when I saw the average time I knew it would be too late in the day to complete it.
You do like big maps, which is great, but they need a lot of filling in order to not look barren.
The harbour has quite a bit of added detail, which was really appreciated, so it was a shame it was used solely to get from A to B. Maybe we come back to it later?
From what I saw on my 30 minute poke around, there is still a lot of polishing to be done. We arrive by ship, looking at the deck. The walkway off the boat is at head height (on a not-short race), we go up the steps to the enter the city, but the chain pull to open the gate is at the bottom of the steps.
The town really needs filling up. There are plenty of buildings, but no personal touches to the homes or streets. (Check out Cragsford, or Tordek's Tools for inspiring city maps).
For such a large town, there is no need to send the player to all four corners to complete the kill imp quest, perhaps have them concentrated in one part of the town, which might explain why people are wandering around with hardly a care.
Don't get me wrong, nothing is horribly bad, it just feels unfinished right now. The writing is error free which is a big plus and I particularly like the weapon vendor's comment. However, I would have liked to have been led into the story as opposed to being placed right in the middle of it - perhaps have someone waiting for us at the dock who can thank us for coming and explain why they sent for us?
