Nope. One way only. You can never transition back to a map you've already been on.
You can duplicate the entire map, but then it's just a copy as of that time.
..and you can never go back to that one... unless you duplicate it etc.
Waste of time and effort in most cases.
If you have the room and the details, you can do it with teleporters to separate parts on the map. It can be messy, but doable if it's required.
This strategy is cleaner on an indoor map IMO.
Note: This wouldn't be on a new map, but could be close enough =o

Right, teleporters are the way to go for something like this, provided you're not talking crazy-large maps on each side.
Another option is using copies of the same map, which does provide some additional flexibility in terms of managing state of each "copy" of the same map. The copy map functionality can still be a bit wonky at times, so keep that in mind.
