Not being able to unbind means my interest in buying companions drops to zero.
I bought a galeb duhr for my cleric. Cleric hit max level -- it'd be nice to shift the rock dude to another character and then buy a stone or cat for my cleric. Now? I'm not wasting the $30 I spent on that guy to buy ANOTHER companion.
I don't mind PW making money, but I think their policies for this game are counterproductive. (Which is so weird because their policies are pretty good for STO)
Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?
Eh. All the whining I hear about the zen shop is fine and dandy I suppose. I know if somehow people were able to bully the devs into lowering prices I'd probably have bought more than char slots.
But for real ya'll. Any mmo player who has been around for an expansion pack release, or anybody who has played an xbox game will soon note. When Feywild comes out, and all you have to do is download the friggen expansion...and then play it...with out busting out your credit card...you will be pleased. Especially console players.
Yes game companies are out to make money. That's life. But I don't mind seeing a zen shop full of awesome (yet unnecessary and technically earn-able without spending a dime) stuff, as opposed to walking into a game store on release day to spend money on a game that looks cool....and find the first DLC sitting right next to it (which was released the same day...imagine that). I'm happy for the pay model on this game simply because it allows me to continue not growing up...while also not earning the ire of my wife (and bank).
Having said that...I felt like a tard losing my blue skeletal dog to a reroll, cause I thought I could unbind it. Then I got over it.

Its not really whining about the cash shop, just one item within it. Some companions are already account-wide, while others are not. It makes little sense to me (and obviously others) that the ones in the shop are not account wide too. Zen shop mounts being account wide at about the same costs make the companions look overpriced as well.
I know I only accepted them not being account wide because I thought they'd get around to fixing the companion unbind system. The raptr comment about it being intentionally turned off, and no plans to enable it again just destroyed that viewpoint. I imagine others feel the same way. So expect a lot more complaints about them until they make a change.
They suckered me with the whole unbinding thing. It is right there in the game, it just wasn't implemented yet, so I bought a few companions to toy around with on one character. I figured I would check them out and if I didn't like them I could sell it later or just move it to an alt. They patched the game so often when I first started playing that I assumed they would be adding it in a few weeks at the most. Everything everywhere said this was a feature that would be added at some point. I was not really not happy when I found out they weren't going to implement this and I feel like I was ripped off quite a bit. It's bad enough knowing most of the companions suck, but it's even worse knowing that they are all stuck on one character and will never be used.
All companions should be account wide. If they are not going to do that then at the very least I should be able to move them to an alt on the same account. Moving the companion should reset it to level one (if they ever decide to add unbinding it should do the same thing) which would make sure people won't switch them back and forth all the time. It should also be free. I already paid you for the companion, I should at least be able to use it where I want. Upgrading companions needs to be permanent and should transfer with it as well (It stays at the new quality and is reset to level 1). At least then if someone wants to delete a character they won't lose all the money they invested in it. They definitely need to consider doing something about companions because hardly anyone buys them now and once word of this announcement spreads the sales will drop even more.

Since these clowns are to afraid to step up, I will. It is ALL about the money. That wasn't hard now was it? It is like these clowns at cryptic are afraid to tell consumers that they are actually charging you for the free to play game to keep the illusion going.
Mums the word Kryptic....
There is no worse feeling in the world than the moment during an argument you realize you are wrong.
Well we all know the unbind button does not work, We all know there is little to no chance of it ever working, most have known all this since way before 'live' launch.
With there being very liitle actual up to date info and guides for the game nobody knows untill they hear about it in game etc etc or until they have bought a companion and found out the hard way, but too late PWE got there cash.
Most things in the game early on that were found to be not needed or did not work as they would have liked , or things just tested out were removed completely near enough straight away, makes sence , no point it being there if it does nothing or dont work. But they have known about this unbind button on the companion screen and that the system dont work for months and months, but it is left there, hmm, wonder why ?
So, say for every 20 people who do know the unbinding does not work there is 1 new 'green' player that does not, Thats a potential customer for a Zen companion if ever i saw one.....
Alot of things in this game are very vaguely labeled, tooltiped etc etc it is only the old players that do know how things work and what does not, but for a 'new' player its a whole different world, EVERYTHING is a carrot on a stick and most do chase it and dont realise until its too late
